Is this his last year on the Cat B rookie list? If so, does that mean we need to upgrade him to the senior list if we decide to keep him?

I may be incorrect, but I thought I read that when we signed him, we paid him 500k due to what Esso we're going to pay him? If that is true, what would we need to pay him if he is upgraded to the senior list?

Think it was confirmed he was on around 200-250k plus free use of a jeep and living allowances or something close to that.

With the new CBA he could easily ask for 400k and get it

I'd question whether he'd get 400k, even with the new CBA. I don't think he has shown that he is above average, but I guess another club looking for a ruckman might give him a go.

Highly doubt Esso were offering 500k to graduate engineer, that's senior management pay.

If another club were to offer that for him I'd push for a second rounder for him at the trade table. He's surplus to our needs imo, as I just don't think he's suited to playing as a genuine forward, or our team in general, but if he's used correctly by a team as a 1st ruckman who can provide a genuine goal kicking threat as a forward I think he could be elite.

I'd almost advocate playing him in the ruck ahead of Grundy to test the theory for a few weeks if Grundy wasn't so damn important to us long term.

I agree with you here.

Was reportedly $130-140k a year to match his potential earnings if he took up an offer with a petrochemical company. I'd imagine if he was re-signed it'd be something around the $250-300k range with incentives. Not sure if he can go round again as a Cat B rookie or if he'd have to be promoted, or if he did have to be promoted whether it would be to the senior or rookie list.

I'd be thinking more like 100k pa, even that would have you in the top band for graduates

You then have to factor in the conversion rate.

Don't know how much upside he has left, but considering where mason has come from in a short time and considering l did not think he would get this far.
He has so far exceeded most expections. I hope they keep him even as a back up for grundy at least, or as his improvement continues keep playing him and see how high his sealing is,or not.

Why do we persevere with this bloke seriously? someone please enlighten me as to what he does for the team? he cant mark the ball, he cant run, he cant bend over.

I dont get it these internationals are so much of a pot shot and i dont care what H/W measurables they have at some point you just have to stop and this guy is literally the definition of Look like Tarzan plays like Jane. Watching the game yesterday with him in the Ruck against Jobe Watson was pure comical Jobe pushed him aside all 6'10 of him like he was a toy doll.

I don't understand the vitriol. Cox is a guy that has given up a well paid career to chase a dream and is working his arse off for it and us. Training reports have him as one of the last off the field every session. He's stays the longest to sign autographs and is a genuine bloke. He does not deserve the disrespect you're levelling at him in this thread.

To his footballing ability he has speed and height and is dangerous to a point but hasn't dealt with body contact in the contest yet. You're criticism of his rucking is unfair, he regularly wins clean hitouts and ruck is clearly his best position. We just don't have a role for him there.

To the topic of international players I think they are great for the game. Stynes, Kennely, Hanley, Pyke and Tuohy are all successes. To dismiss that, and to take away the opportunity they were given, would diminish the game.

I undestand your frustration at how we're playing and performing, but to be honest I think your OP is grossly unfair and misguided.

Future will be decided by our new coach next Season, highly doubt they would keep him at his age with his lack of experience, would have been a handy project if he were 19/20 years old

Yep hes the issue, nothing to do with the game plan or the coach or the midfield millionaires who are collectively the most overrated over paid turnover merchants of any in the game.
And we want to pot a bloke in Cox, American or not it doesn't matter! who gives his all and is probably offering no less than Moore has all season to be honest.

Like Dawes in 2010 he's capable of a few clever tap ons that don't show on the stats sheet; his tap to Elliott in the goal square yesterday instead trying to take the mark is one example.
