Will become my most hated player if he leaves.... We give him a chance and put an enormous amount of work into him and when the club is finally about to receive some payoff, he leaves. Fk that!

Actually, the wknd showed what he's capable of. You're not giving him enough credit as a player.

If he is gone, it is extremely disappointing and a black mark imo on the club.

I dont think he was handled at all well this year.

This is one I think we will regret if true.
 
I can't understand why people would knock him if he leaves. There is 1 first ruck position up for grabs and that belongs to Grundy. He is out of contract and has been on stuff all money. The bloke is a professional sportsman, how dare he try and further his career.... Cox is as a good and honorable bloke as you could meet at collingwood. If he leaves for greater opportunity then I wish him all the best.
 
We will be getting nothing at all for him if Brisbane is indeed his choice though.

They have all the cards. Take him as pick one in the PSD if needed. Brisbane being the wooden spooners means we get shafted, we just need to get over it and move on.

If Waldron said it then I can almost guarantee that he's not going to Brisbane. That guy is never right.

He is my go to guy if I want to keep two sets of books for my business though.

I think the ponies may have him on retainer.

How was he handled badly by the club?
He got games when most people thought he wouldn't.
 
People have marked this guy pretty harsh. On stuff all wage, has kicked more goals than probably Cloke has in the last two years.

Showed on the weekend he can be a threat up forward , not all lost at sea when the ball hits the ground either. Strange perception of this guy on these boards

$400k a year (as reported on Nicks).
Potentially been asked to take a pay cut which may be the catalyst for the move.

Don't forget that as a rookie, only half of his pay counted towards the salary cap. May have been told that a lift to the senior list would impact his next contract.

So COXy could get acquired by Brions in Pre-season draft for zip right? Thats if he wanted to walk cause he's not contracted.

What I'm finding it difficult is to price him.. What's he worth? Just say another club (other than lions) wanted him, whats type of pick is he worth?

Do you rate him on form or potential or both? For example is he worth more than Wittsy? He was traded for to Suns for picks 44 and 62.

Worth noting# Witts cannot go fwd and kick goals, he's not that dynamic (kicking 2 goals from 18 matches this year). Cox is still green but has showed that he can ruck and kick goals (10 goals from 9 matches) and has already passed Wittsy (Career 20) with 27. It's almost a mandatory requirement these days for a ruckman to be able to go fwd and kick goals.

What crazy person said he's on $400k per year? Everything I've read from multiple posters says he's on $250k + car + living allowance. Doubt he'd be getting asked to take a pay cut when the club has made it publicly known that he's a required player and have offered him a 2 year extension...

Reported on nicks it must be true. He is a rookie ffs. If he was getting $400k per year I would be absolutely staggered. Just because half does not show in your cap does not mean you pay a bloke way overs. I know out list management has been bad but I don't believe it would be even close to that.

Worth more than Witts. I'd be looking to package up Cox and a later pick for Brions pick 18. They may have us over a barrel for more than that.

Would prefer to keep him if possible though.
 
Another point on cox and potential move to Brisbane, my understanding is he was going out with Sharni Layton. Would be interesting to move to Brisbane when she is down here.

They may actually be willing to do that or something similar. With Ballenden likely to be bid on around that point or a little earlier they may want to try to extract as much value for their later firsts as possible via trades and use later picks to secure him.

I'm not convinced that they're after him though. Doesn't make sense for them with Martin still playing well and Smith developing really nicely as his successor.
 
It's better for Mason to leave us now.

He's not as good as Jarrod Witts, so I doubt he will be guranteed first team footy at any other club, but if he stays at Collingwood he will play 15 VFL games next year barring injury to Grundy.

And to us, as a club, he won't be a loss. He turns 27 next year so it's not like he has a long career left. He can't play as a permenant forward/second ruck, anad Moore is suited to that role better anyway.

I'll wish him well if he leaves, most likely to another Victorian club unless his netballer girlfriend can get traded interstate with him.

As for replacing him with a backup ruck, I wouldn't go nuts. Max Lynch has improved dramatically towards the end of the season, and has been played as the number one ruck ahead of Mason even when they are in the same side.

Go out and get an experienced state level ruckman as backup maybe, but no need to break the bank to get a backup ruckman if Cox does leave.

When did 300k become stuff all? he'd be the highest paid 20 game player in the comp.
