Disappointing but hate reading some of the crap directed at the players/club after a loss. Was a battling end to the season and we were up against it tonight, just not our year I guess. Oh well..

exact limp attitude that loses games.

I hate to read after losses like this that it was a "poor effort". The reality is that right now this Hawthorn team is a lot better than our team when they are at their best. This isn't about effort, it's about skill, execution and class, and Hawthorn have those in spades right now.

The first half was a good contest, but that first 5 minutes coming out of halftime was pretty woeful football from us, and it gave the Hawks momentum, and when they are rolling, they are basically unstoppable. They can move the ball so easily with precision and hit up targets so much more efficiently than we can, but every possession we have is highly contested and when we have no space and no time, we look ordinary very quickly. Sure, we can get contested possessions and clearances, but more often than not they are quick kicks out of congestion that aren't to our advantage.

I agree that the bombing it into the forward line stuff is getting old, especially when you're against Gibson, Lake, Hodge etc back there - it's just not going to work. Have to lower the eyes and show a bit more composure, which unfortunately is tough when you have a Hawk on you as soon as you get the ball. Jack and Kennedy were terrific all game, most of our guys were beaten up all over the ground in the second half.

On a side note, it would be nice if Craig Bird got more opportunities to kick the ball with his favoured foot! How many kicks on the left was he forced to take??

We can make all the excuses in the world, but it has to be said, that second half was fu*king embarrassing!!! Not Swans/Bloods footy, it was 'deer in the headlights' stuff:confused: , looked tired(not an excuse!), and frankly, if we don't get our shit together, we're out in straight sets....and to top it off, it's raining in England:mad: !!! I'm pissed off.....

It honestly doesn't matter if we get knocked out in straight sets as we are not good enough at the moment to compete with the likes of Geelong and Hawthorn.

Agree

But the question for me is it the injuries in the wrong areas including tonight guys clearly unfit

Or is the list as a whole not good enough and needs rework

that was depressing. A loss I could handle, but just giving up like that was unbearable. The only thing that could make it better is if Bruce comes down with some disease that prevents him from commentating ever again

Tep, I wouldn't care id we lost next week and got teh extra week to reoad for next year, give Horse a bit of extra time to reorganise the game plan

Not sure what you mean, but if you think that right now we are on equal footing with the Hawks you're kidding yourself. They have raised their level and we have gone backwards. Some of it on our side is injuries, but that doesn't change the reality.

That second half was brutal to watch, and it was disappointing to see how easily they scored and moved the ball. I'm just saying that it isn't always about effort - is there a drop in intensity? Sure, but that can happen when you are down and the other team has momentum and is putting you to sword. Yes, it was embarrassing to lose like that, but I think it's easy to say a bad loss is due to a "pathetic effort", rather than acknowledging that the other team had a lot to do with it.

The more disappointing aspect for me is the coaching staff not doing anything different. Obviously the Hawks have us figured out at the moment and what we are doing isn't working.

But this says a bit about him and a lot of our team actually. They are so one sided. What we would give for a hodge or Mitchell who can plant on either side and hit a target
