Respect to the Eagles.

Some of our boys just gave up which was disheartening I can live with mistakes etc. but letting the flood gates open like it did is inexcusable.

It's one hell of a reality check for our players, coaches etc. well it's going to be a soul searching week but looking forward to how we respond against North...

I ****ing hate Josh Kennedy. There, got it off my chest. That cocky Josh hill campaigner isn't far behind

This game is played in inches. While I don't think we should have lost by as much as we did in the end, I reckon a few young guys switched off after Stringer was taken high and not rewarded. The ball went straight down the other end and its a 12pt turn around. While it was still close, I believe that is the score that broke our spirit

There were a lot of guys down on peak performance today, however if you look at the experience comparisons as we have done the last few weeks, we got beaten today like a team of that level usually does

i reckon Spindles will be out for sure next week so there is one definate change

Fortunately the Roos had a tough game and we have a number of freshened players to step back in next week.mi don't think we spent too many petrol tickets today after half time anyway

Bring on the Roos

Johannisen was having such a great patch of form before he got injured, he'll be better for the run. Certainly looked a bit rusty out there.
Just quietly, he'll be a big x factor heading into finals. Not many opposition teams or fans realise how huge he's been for us this year.

Disappointing to have such a big fade. I don't really watch the Eagles over there cause of their remarkably ignorant fans. Today has taught me I need to apologise to any other teams fans I called feral because Eagle fans take it to a whole new stratosphere. They cheer a guy who is a convicted felon. The AFL will find themselves on a hiding to nothing if they can't fix up the home crowd umpiring as well, if it costs someone a grand final birth it really shows that the competition has very little fairness to it.
Jake Stringer is a jet.
Mitch Wallis is our heart and soul.

On to next week! Few changes in the ruck/backline I'm thinking!
To be fair to the crowd, it was gracious of them to clap for grant. Totally agree on the way they influence the umpires though.

175 point turnaround. Yuck. Last quarter was disgusting. Midfield got spanked. Stringer has reached super saiyan God level. Crameri was good. Jong poor. Smith poor. Campbell poor. Talia poor. Team defence today was horrid.

Well it was fairly self-indulgent. Doubt the majority of BF'ers would honestly think those three are more than depth players.
There are number of people here that have backed Redpath, Biggs and Talia to the hilt and a few of us have copped a lot of shit for disagreeing

Part of me also things we took our pedal off to not gas ourselves out so we wouldn't get smashed by North next week.
Given that by 5 minutes into the last we were never going to win it, why not increase the chances of winning next week?

They were really good. We were really bad. That was not, however, a sign of where we sit as a team. I'd suggest not even as bad a loss as the Melbourne game.

We had a very inexperienced list. They have a distinct home ground advantage. We had young players that got fatigued. They're a team in the hunt for a premiership that saw this and knew they could easily open the floodgates.

I know we all hate getting belted. But in the long term I'm not too fussed. This was a useful game for some of our players in terms of learning what's required. Who knows, it might even serve as a bit of a wake up slap.

I feel sick. This always happens :(

******* hate Eagles. I hope Hawthorn utterly destroy them.

I was going to post the same thing - feel sick. That just looked like the 'dogs of old. And we are NOT the 'dogs of old. I hope.

Was that bloody washing of the scarf which brought us bad luck this week!

Even if we were close, umpires play to the crowd there and ensure you lose - but we should have not dropped our bundle like we did.

Really dejected. Sigh.

Bring back Picken, Boydy etc

See I don't get that. Crowds cheer and boo. We do as well. Umpires weren't that bad today. Couple of iffy ones their way, a few less our way but that doesn't cover 77 points.

Just what I want to hear.

Even when we're up, there are always teams better than us. Anybody think we'll ever be the best in the comp?
mate this West Coast team has been simmering away and developing it's own special weapons for a while now. They've had to get a moderately talented midfield experienced enough to be able to consistently share a workload and they've poured money into NN to turn him into the weapon he is. They also spent year getting JJK to be the unstoppable behemoth he is today.

Can we do that? of course we can. We have a list littered with weapons and we'll have our time. We need to be a strong club that keeps its players and brings them through like WCE have. With Bevo at the helm we have some decent indication as to whether we can do that. Hang in there

I hope you're right, but if that was the case, why not throw a few behind the ball to limit the damage?

I'm thinking Bev was expecting this loss and wanted to see how the players performed under a lot more pressure than we've faced recently. It's quite right that we haven't played a "good" team for a while; the players may have become complacent to a degree and the next step will be for them to learn the lesson. Our inexperience, while a source of pride for a while, is also a liability.

He can only work with the list he has now but there will no doubt be changes to the list over the next few years.

That's not Bev's style. And in andy any case, I'd back ourselves in to win the two next anyway and not make percentage a concern.

Not going to rant we were out muscled and couldn't stick tackles yes they got an arm chair ride on top of that but I think our inexperience showed out just 2 guys over 100 games clearly showed.

Will rant about this eagles fans expect a thug to be treated like a hero because he worked hard to get a senior game most people go through their lives with the self control and maturity not to be a thug and king hit someone when out of a night and I don't celebrate a coward who does whether he's done his time or not it's not a heroic comeback and it's a disgrace to be treated like one. If you want a heroic comeback look back at Jason McCartney now that's something to treat someone like a hero about, our society is truly losing touch with what's special and what's fluffed up
