Maths re the new stadium.

It would be silly to have 80000 seats now the cost of supplying game day staff for all that extra area that is not needed will push up ticket prices and reduce club profits .
Then you have the cost of cleaning and maintenance of that extra unnessessary seating .

By the time we need the extra 20000 seats the seats we have now will have to be replaced .
As long as the inferstructure of the other 20000 seats is in then we should be happy .
Pretty sure WCE and freo only wanted 60000 seats so they can maximise game day profits .
Exasperatingly the Eagles and Dockers were lobbying for a 50k stadium but Colin said there's no way we are building a whole new stadium to fit only 7000 more in

Read the previous quote. It related to allowing opposition supporters into the ground to give atmosphere rather than fill it with members. That would include "non member WC supporters"

My understanding is the government wanted seats for opposition supporters to encourage interstate travel and a boost to the local economy

Given the taxpayer is funding it - there should be some economic return

10k non-member seats is far too many
Should be capped at 5k, absolute max
It's easy enough for ITW and members of the public to get seats anyway through the resale program
(I don't think any of our games have truly sold out )

No it's not

I live in the country and we can't get tickets for three people in a row unless we buy off gumtree sellers

Bunbury has population of 100,000 people and its 1.5 hours away and the studio will be full .....

The releasable system is so bloody flawed ....they crank up prices to stupid levels ......it's a bloody rip off

There no point in us being members when we live five hours away

10k is perfect

Do you log on at 9am each morning. ,starting from the Monday the week before the game?
That's when the tickets are released/reissued (without the price hike ) via the Eagles return scheme
Gumtree and ticketmaster are rip offs , but I've never had to rely on them
10k is far too many
And we do have many regional members!
Would a 3 or 6 game membership interest you ?(if our club decided to offer them)

I'm at work and not always online ....I try to

I get what you're saying but to me the ten k will get filled in game day

Bunbury, Mandurah, Geraldton albany (where I am ) will fill it

Footy should be open not exclusive

The gumtree tickets were OK and not too badly priced for premium seats ...it was easy also

The problem we found was getting 3 seats in a row ......near impossible even in the Monday which I tried a few times

Yep - there are plenty of us eagles fans in the country who like to watch a game when we are in perth - the old system made it hard - everyone in wa is paying for this stadium - so its not right to restrict the access.

If people know they can get a seat they will come

Plus Perths winter weather is mild ......people will come on game day if it's sunny

Well according to stats, 3.6 million Australians pay no nett tax. So proportionally that's what, 400k west Australians that are working made zero contribution.

Just saying.

But would be nice if u could just come up and buy a ticket.

Got this on Friday but have not checked my emails until now. Anyone else get it?
Will fill it out now and let you know the kinds of questions they are asking.

Dear W.C. Fry,

The West Coast Eagles Football Club invites you to help shape the future of your membership by completing a short questionnaire about Perth Stadium currently under construction at Burswood. We are also interested in your opinions on a range of membership options that are currently in the process of being developed.

The survey is based on the assumption that Perth Stadium will open at the start of the 2018 AFL season and the appropriate agreements are in place to effect a smooth transition in 2018. It is important to note that all options and scenarios in this survey are hypothetical only at this stage. The club is not in a position to communicate more specifically about the stadium until a user agreement is reached – this research is the first step in that process.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could take approximately 20 minutes to complete this online questionnaire by Friday, June 10, 2016. As a thank you for participating, everyone who completes the survey will receive a Team Store $15 off voucher*.

In preparation for completing the survey, you can view a fly-through video of what to expect from Perth Stadium here: .

Please note that the survey has been sent to a random sample of members and that responses to this survey will in no way directly impact your own membership allocation as they are entirely anonymous - you will be contacted by the West Coast Eagles when it is time to register your membership choices. This will most likely be later in 2016, once the joint football working group has completed negotiations with the stadium operator for the use of, and access to, Perth Stadium.

The club has commissioned Metrix Consulting, as independent contractors, to conduct this survey on our behalf and we recommend that the survey is completed on a computer or tablet, rather than a mobile device.

Please click here to begin the survey:
https://blahblahblah

Should you have any queries regarding the questionnaire or your membership, please do not hesitate to call the Membership Services Centre on (08) 9388 4566. Thank you for your continued support of the West Coast Eagles and we look forward to receiving your valued input.

Yours sincerely,

Firstly some basic questions - how many games do you attend at Domain. Who do you go with - alone, family and what kids ages, adult friends...

Then a multi choice select 2 best answers as to how you feel about new stadium - typical choices from excited, aprehensive, nervous, happy and so on...

What are the top 3 things you are most looking forward to at Perth Stadium? - then an area to type what you want. Mine was Better facilities = bars, food and toilets. Having own seat and not a wooden bench. Larger crowd = more atmosphere.

Do you intend to remain a member of the West Coast Eagles when the AFL moves to Perth Stadium at Burswood? Multi choice from Yes, definately to No, highly unlikely.

The move to Perth Stadium will allow West Coast Eagles to offer a wider range of membership options than what is currently available at Domain Stadium. Before showing you some products that might appeal, we would like to ask you a few questions about your preferences.
Imagine that you are considering purchasing West Coast Eagles membership products at Perth Stadium for season 2018.

How many people do you wish to include as part of your group (including yourself)?
Within the group you wish to include as part of your membership, how many people (including yourself)….
Please make sure your total adds up to 6.
Hold a current season membership
Hold a non-access West Coast Eagles membership (eg. Rick’s Rookies, In the Wings)
Do not hold any current West Coast Eagles membership

Do you want your membership to accommodate….

Then it asks for various ages brackets from kids under 5 to adults over 70

Do you want your West Coast Eagles membership to include….
Then it asks from 1 game to 11 games memberships.

Thinking about your seating at Perth Stadium, how important are each of the following to you…
Having access to areas where I can congregate and socialise with others
Sitting near the extended group of people who I have been sitting near at Domain Stadium – (ie people who are not in my immediate group of family/friends)
Sitting with my immediate group of family/friends who I attend the game with
Having the same seat allocated for each home game I attend
Sitting in my preferred viewing position

Then a checkbox for each question from Not at all important to Extremely important.

Ultimately, which of these factors is most important to you?
And you must select from one option of those previous questions. Obviously choose wanting to sit with family / friends.

Still thinking about your seating at Perth Stadium, how important are each of the following to you…
Space/leg room
Protection from rain
Protection from direct sun
Being close to somewhere you can buy food
Viewing position
Ease of access to and from the entry gate
Being close to a bar
Being close to the toilets

Again choices from Not at all important to Extremely important.

Ultimately, which of these seating factors is most important to you?
Again must select from one option of previous questions. Viewing position for me.

We are now going to show you a range of potential West Coast Eagles membership options at Perth Stadium. These options are currently in development stage which is why we are asking members for their feedback. Please note that the products are only hypothetical at this stage.
There are three groups of products for you to provide feedback on.
Please take your time reading though each option and then answer the questions that follow.

Then it asks to select your most preferred choice out of all 9 options.
It then asks how likely you would be to purchase your preferred seat at different price points, then asks same question but if you can pay by monthly direct debit.

Are you interested in hearing what West Coast Eagles premium/corporate hospitality options will be on offer at Perth Stadium for AFL Season 2018?
Yes, no, maybe.

Then some more membership based questions about game day entertainment and such... not important for this.

How do you envisage getting to/from Perth Stadium?

Car pooling

Personal vehicle

Taxi/drop off

Walk

Bus

Train

Other

In which of the following areas would you most likely congregate pre-matches?

Maylands

CBD

East Perth

South Perth

Victoria Park/East Victoria Park

Northbridge

Mt Lawley/Highgate

Burswood/Crown

Perth Stadium/precinct

Rivervale

Other (Please specify)

Am unlikely to congregate – would come straight to the match

Then same question for post match...
Some general profiling questions about myself.
And finally a spot for you to write comments.

Prices seem a bit high. Currently my membership at Subiaco would probably be classed as option 5. This year it cost $475. $220 increase is taking the piss.

$220 increase would be ridiculous.
I'm ok with price increases as it will mean more people will opt to not renew
But we already have some of the highest (? if not the highest) membership costs in the AFL

Yeah got the survey and the packages appear very pricey.

Two options as I see it.
a) Go all out and spend $1200 the first year to get your foot in the door and see how things pan out for future years
b) go el cheapo 11 game general admission for $345 and spend the year hating the high rollers

General admin for members does seem a bit shit.

Pretty much dead on. For the first year and excitement I would be tempted to go ham and forego my usual trip to Melbourne that year.
