Always good to see the support for one of ours in the difficult times.

Please explain?

Shaz is incline pressing dumbbells.

The theory of an incline press is that it gives you greater range of movement. For example stand straight and raise your arm parallel to the floor. Measure the distance from the arm to the chest. Now raise it 45 degrees upwards mimicking the incline bench. The distance between the tip of your arm and chest is now lengthened.

Look at Shaz's form. Draw an imaginary straight line between the two dumbbells and at the lowest point of the press look where it is. Six to seven inches above the chest. Realistically Shaz is trying to lift more than he is capable of and to compensate for the extra weight he is not executing the movement with full range of motion.

Now before the physio's jump in and say he's building strength blah blah partial reps blah this is rotator cuff injury area 101 and getting into pec tear territory at the extreme.

BIGNEDKELLY, who we can all safely assume is a weights, training, rehab and conditioning specialist for high performance athletes who has studied the field and has experience in helping footballers get to 100% health and playing fitness, I think, is saying the players spend too much time in the weights room and it's causing injuries.

Incline dumbbell press is specifically intended to work the upper regions of your pecs and chest/shoulder tie in area.

As for his form, it’s not that bad. Different bodies are able to achieve different ranges of motion and angles according to genetics.

As a rule I’d get the dumbbell more or less hitting my rib cage when I used to train.

But I’d use big weights and found the negative portion of my reps to be more important than than push out.

Shaz would be a pretty big upgrade on Aish if he could return. A high linking half back.
Huge.

Once he’s fit and has match fitness, he will bring A grade poise to the back area.
Him and Langdon patrolling down back, the twins.
