Looks so composed ball in hand, never should be sub again.
Agree - We need these types out there. We have too many bad users of the Ball

Thats why I'm also an advocate of putting Varcoe in the backline, Marsh over Frost (slightly better skills but more rebound) and not dropping Maynard.
I am happy where Varcoe is playing. Help to Deliver the Ball well to the Forwards and playing best Footy in his Career
What is his position TD?I am happy where Varcoe is playing. Help to Deliver the Ball well to the Forwards and playing best Footy in his Career

Yeah but some clubs get it closer to an exact Science than others, such as we did the year we got Thomas at 2 and Pendlebury at 5.We all would love to do the Draft again with Retrospect.
Drafting is not an Exact Science

Personally, I think Graham Wright at Hawthorn does as well as anyone., as well as Wells even!Hine and Wells are probably the best who have done it in recent times
Wright is a Great Trader but I am not 100% Sold on him at the Draft TablePersonally, I think Graham Wright at Hawthorn does as well as anyone., as well as Wells even!
Spot on Dave, i think hes been ok at draft table but nothing great, but as far as trading for other players hes above everyone else A+.Wright is a Great Trader but I am not 100% Sold on him at the Draft Table
Weird that no club took a punt on a bloke who was just named All Australian, and was only 30.Um complete opposite actually. Pretty sure Leon made it clear he wanted to play but we couldn't fit him with our salary cap at the time. Of all our exits from the last few years (except Beams) he is the only one that i really wanted to stay for another year or two... But the fact no other club offered him a contract (although he only wanted to play for us or in perth) means that the rest of the AFL agreed with our take on it.
We only had 150k spare in the cap when he decided he wanted to play on. He told the club he was going to retire after 2011 and the club spent their TPP's accordingly, then he got the shits when we 'insulted' him by offering him the last $150k we had spare.Weird that no club took a punt on a bloke who was just named All Australian, and was only 30.
Apparently we offered him 150k and he wanted 250k.

It was surprising that no other club picked him up though. He was amazing playing off a hbf in 2011.

He went at something like 90% DE for the season didn't he? It was unheard of. You always knew he was going to hit his target when he had the ball. It's a shame they didn't move him back there earlier in his career.Maybe controversial but Neon Leon in 2011 was the best small defender I've ever seen.
His ball use was amazing to watch, pinpoint targets like a tracer anywhere in D50 and he was unstoppable in 1 on 1 contests.
I think he never got the recognition he deserved because of his poor finals record and the way he left the club.

I think they eventually worked the figure up to about $200,000 from memory. We only had 150k spare in the cap when he decided he wanted to play on.
