Matthew Wade retiring from red ball cricket

Surprised nobody else has commented. He did play 35 Tests, so he's not a nobody.

Personally, I found him to be a frustrating player, as much as Mitch Marsh and John Dyson were, if not moreso.

During his first stint, he was an acceptable lower-order counterpuncher, but his keeping against spin was substandard. During his second stint, his keeping was actually acceptable, but he had forgotten how to bat. During his third stint, he was a combative but limited middle-order batsman.

But I'd never question his commitment to the cause, and he'll always have that "NIIIIIIICE GA-RAY!" moment.

Wish him well in retirement.

Had an underwhelming test career, unfortunately. He was a bit better than what he showed in that format. His experience will be missed in the Shield though

This bloke indirectly got me into afl. Without wade I’d have had no idea who Garry Lyon was.

his career figures as a bat in tests maybe not quite what they could have been but some useful knocks. was a bit surprised to see he had as many tests as he did.
one of the enduring memories of him will be him bowling medium pace while phil hughes kept.

plenty of runs left in him in the t20 leagues i'm sure
