Max Holmes will be the best player in the AFL in 5 years time

would be far and away Richmond's best player and you know it

I’m currently Richmond’s best player 🤣

But seriously we will draft multiple guns better than Holmes in this and the coming drafts by pure mathematics alone. That’s how good our picks are.

1,6,9,10,15,21,29 is a possible combination this year after trading out the rumored players. Nobody on BF would stuff up a draft hand like that.

You know that the Suns had MORE picks in the top 15 and only one of them ever made an All Australian side don’t you?

A BETTER draft hand than what you’re proposing has already been stuffed up. That’s just from the first one I bothered looking at, and that’s a draft hand that actually existed.

Yours mentioned above doesn’t yet exist. It’s just what you’re hoping for, and hoping that you won’t stuff up.

That poster is one of the people that select there 2025 team and have, pick 1 HFF, pick, 6 HFf, pick 9 FP, pick 10 wing. Lol

That’s not hope that’s a minimum.

6 for Daniel, 9 and 10 for Bolton (at worst). I haven’t even considered what we get for Baker or compo for Graham, Dusty? should they go because idk what it is.

The specifics of the picks aside, I just don't understand how this is a flex in general

Hip hip hooray. This changes the point how?
There are numerous examples of teams with an excellent draft hand screwing it up.

Hell Richmond themselves have previously had a draft hand with 5 of the first 20 picks and aside from Brett Deledio - and even HE, for a #1 selection wasn’t all THAT great - managed to f**k it up completely.

The tigers took Deledio, the great Richard Tambling, Danny Meyer who’s 17 games for the club were admittedly as good as anything anyone has ever seen, Adam Pattison who gave us 61 matches of pure bliss, and Dean Polo who’s 56 games at Tigerland will surely be immortalised with a verse in the club song one day.

So not only is there a precedent for a club having an equal or better clutch of early selections and screwing them up, there’s a precedent for the tigers themselves doing it.

But nah, it’s a guarantee.

You aren’t sure how being able to draft good players is a flex?

I really don’t know how to answer that.

In relation to this thread it’s about that even Richmond will have better players than Holmes in 5 years never mind other clubs.

I mean shit have you guys forgotten about Daicos?

This thread belongs in the bay

So you're trading the picks for Daicos now?

You'll get some players from that hand but picks are a lottery ticket to begin with, and this draft doesn't have any Daicos level players. You're drafting like 6× McKercher / Duursmas and f you're lucky a Sheezel.

I remember Richmond's last big haul of early picks. Five in the top 20, and they nailed it, bwahaha.

1. Brett Deledio
4. Richard Tambling
12. Danny Meyer
16. Adam Pattison
20. Dean Polo

Imagine replacing Martin, Bolton, Rioli and Baker with those names. Fortunately they can't fall any lower than 18th I guess?

Where did you get that from lol

I never mentioned anything about getting Daicos

In 5 years time Daicos alone will still be better than Holmes. That’s what I said.

Then you have pliers like Reid Sheezel, JHF, Ashcroft etc who are most likely better than Holmes in 5 years time.

Yeah ok just forgot who we drafted with first round picks.

Dusty, Cotchin, Delidio, Riewoldt, Rance.

Ok cause every clubs make mistakes but I think it’s just wishful thinking you want us to stuff it up. Odd are we will get gun players especially with one of the best draft hands in the coming years.

If you aren’t sure how to answer that, it tells everyone all they need to know.
See, having a good draft hand and waving it around like a 9-inch knob, is like saying to the world ‘look at me, I’ve got a job interview at a world class investment firm so you can all go and get f**ked and if you ever see me again, I’ll be wearing an Armani suit and wearing a Rolex and spitting in your face.’
You’re setting yourself up for a fall. Even having a good draft hand means everything still has to go right with your selections, no injuries, they don’t get poached, they don’t get sick of getting flogged every week for their first 2-3 seasons and want out, they don’t all want the same upgrades at the same time if the my DO become good, and that’s on the off chance that they all DO become good.

As he said, it’s not the flex you think it is. It hasn’t happened yet.

Imagine we draft the same or better. And you are also forgetting Riewoldt Cotchin, Rance, Vlastuin who were all first rounders.

Yes: imagine.

It took you how many goes to get that right the first time?

Now you’re making the assumption that at the first attempt you’re going to get it all spot on again in one hit

You were the one who mentioned Daicos, and I'm not 100% sure a why as there's no Daicos level player in anything in your draft hand at this point other than maybe your future first.

All drafting is wishful thinking, I'm not sure how expecting 5 players better than Holmes from it is the better grounded interpretation.

It's a good draft to have the picks you have but getting even half of them to turn out requires a bit to go right.

I'm curious, was 40 years of being mostly beyond shit and getting all those high draft picks worth the 4 years up the top?

Idk I wasn’t alive/a kid for like 3/4 of it.

And um yes, most tigers supporters say it was well worth it to create a dynasty.

Anyways that’s not relevant to this thread, so I think we stop discussing that.

Richmond enjoyed a rich but short lived period of success, bookended on either side by abject misery. Hardly dysnastical!

He started watching footy in 2014 to be fair, so he isn't deranged for the normal reasons Richmond supporters are. He inherited it or his Dad imparted it on him as "education ".

Don’t talk about stuff your club hasn’t achieved it’s embarrassing and sad. Pretty much every vic club has 1 and the interstate teams get a pass cause they aren’t as old.

Geelong, St Kilda, Dogs and North are the rest. That’s the level Geelong is at as a club.

You're right. I apologise. I'm proud that the Cats' last wooden spoon was over 60 years ago. We haven't achieved the same wooden spoon success as Richmond

Not sure what you're talking about, but Geelong has won 4 premierships since 2007, won more games than any other team, and played in more finals than any other team. That, my friend is dynastical. Nowhere does it say to be dynastical in sport you must win B2B. It's all about sustained long term success.

BTW, if what you refer to as "every vic club has 1" is back to back premierships, Cats have achieved that in the past. But who knows what you mean?

3+ flags with a b2b doofus. Every dynasty has that. You never have the end, that’s the criteria.

Anyway stop talking about it. F me, talk to me on the Geelong v Richmond thread if you want to talk about that.
