So uhhh, Hope went all Jax on us.

I've enjoyed this over the years but I'm ok with it not going past this season. It doesn't have the same polish as Sons did. Not exactly sure I know why, maybe it's just a sequel (of sorts) that doesn't quite live up to it.

The predictability of turning EZ into Jax is really disappointing. That story has already been told.

Still hope we get a First 9 story.

Funny how the only guys who do reviews on this show on Youtube literally hate-watch it. We’re under 2 hours from the end, so I will see it through, but yeah it certainly won’t have the re-watch status of Sons…

so much potential, sadly mixed with cartel yawn-fests, boring former lovers, and unnecessary plot points. To this day I say Edward James Olmos was criminally misused as Felipe. A quality, quality actor with a shit storyline. Angel is begging to be killed off with his boring storyline. The ra-ra female empowerment, we have hairy armpits biker club is the most pointless inclusion ever, as was the whole unbeatable ex-military drug runners and prison guard biker gang that’s gone nowhere.

Quinn got fat and talked more in one scene than he ever did in Sons. But where’s the retaliation for Hap, two weeks later? If we can’t afford Tig and Chibs cameos, can we at least get a more seasoned Rat Boy or T.O. Who add some gravitas to Redwood Original? Also, what sort of turn coats are the Grim Bastards these days? Bring back Theo Huxstable!

Was there any communication club wide about Diaz and his VP or are Santo Padre ex-communicated now? There were enough rent-a-Mayans at Creepers funeral. Surely someone is talking about Diaz/Sons retaliation etc. How did Creeper’s fed chick not turn around and scream out “EZ is the rat!” at the funeral…and how did she get in there in the first place?

I know the shows called Mayans MC, but the dynamic between Isaac and Terry in one sentence has more intrigue than most of the bullshit storylines. “You girls stay here and braid each other’s hair” 🤣

Hope died last night, quite literally…it needed to be a show about a club...not a show with a club in it…it’s got my attention for 2 more hours and that’ll probably be it. Meanwhile I’ll be lining up to meet two actors from a show that ended nearly 10 years this weekend…says a lot really…

Did roll my eyes a bit last week when EZ was writing down in his little note pad.

2 EP’s left now. Still quite a bit to wrap up. As I feared it’s shaping up to be a rushed ending. It feels more like we’re coming to the conclusion of another season rather than the whole series imo. I don’t know how many times I’ve watched SOA, but I’ll be in no rush to rewatch this series. IMO, the series didn’t have much of a chance when it came to matching sons, the support cast of club members in particular was fairly weak & I wonder if that’s why they neglected building those characters up until basically the 2 seasons. The story telling was far too complicated at times & moved way too slowly. They left too much of a gap between storyline’s, so by the time they come back to tying it up I’ve forgotten what had even happened. The cartel & rebel focus over the MC in the first few seasons was a poor choice. If I’m bring honest, I think one of the only reasons I stuck with it was to see the SOA cameos.

Hope setting Letty free by jumping in front of a truck right before her seems counterproductive.

Good to see Taza back though & I’m glad Alvarez didn’t kill Quinn

Agree with all of this. Half expect the Broken Saints or whatever they’re called to get a spin off that’ll flop, badly.

No retaliation for Hap (yet) & nothing ever happened in regards to Montez’s death, apparently he just rode off into the sunset.
EZ & Angel still don’t know about Miguel being their brother however many seasons later. The club don’t know EZ’s a rat & had Creeper killed, Cartel BS, Miguel & Emily BS, Mayan & Sons war etc… all still left to tie up & I’m sure I’m forgetting other storyline’s 😂

Really hope Kurt can get the rights back to the SOA universe & take it paramount or something. First 9 & the Abel & Thomas story he wants to tell would be good.

All of this is incredibly correct.

EJO has been absolutely underutilised. I don't even understand how they've muted his brilliance as badly as they have.

The hairy armpits biker club is hilarious. Neither the Mayans or Sons would have allowed them to grow if they were seen as a threat in any way - if they aren't a threat, why introduce them and why should we care? They're essentially pointless.

It just doesn't feel like a show about a motorcycle club much at all. As you've said, there's to many side plots that just don't matter. Gilly's kid, Miguel and Felipe (which is leading nowhere special) etc. Not enough Bishop/Alvarez/Hank.

This is absolutely bizarre. The Sons know all about it and just don't care? Come on.

I never really loved Isaac's back story as a Sons member either, don't really feel like he fits the club at all.

Did we ever get a resolution to (who was) the dead Son on the floor at the end of season 2 (or was it season 3) when they attacked the Mexican gang’s party?
Wasn’t it supposed to be someone related to Montez? TBH though I’m not even sure if that was addressed on the show or if it’s a theory I read somewhere.

Don’t recall. I know Montez was related to the Mexican gang leader that killed him in the end.

Wendy! That’s exactly what that episode needed. Some great little nuggets from SOA.

I’ve realised the storyline that’s most pointless - does anyone give a shit about what happens to Potter? Last 2 eps and we’re wasting time on that.

How the hell does this show wrap up in under 60 minutes? Far out!

and it only occurred to me watching the recap from last ep, the whole reason we got “Bottles” in this show was to watch the explosion at the ranch in the reflection in his glasses, just like the explosion in ep 1 of Sons of Anarchy 🤭🤪

Absolutely no idea. Don't think they could even do it in 90 mins.

Is it just me or is the adding of storylines completely wrong? The writing has been horrible this season.

That ep felt waaaaay too short as well tbh. Still an absurd amount of loose ends.
It was great seeing Wendy, I was kinda’ hoping she told EZ who her ex was, or brought him to the farm so we could see Nero. Not that it would have made a whole lot of sense, but not much does in this series 😂
Aldo, does this potentially lay the groundwork for a series focussed on Abel & Thomas?

I agree re: the Potter story line & now partnering with creepers junkie GF. Just a waste of time.

I honestly have no idea how they think they can wrap this series up in one last EP. It’s been an incredibly disappointing final season.

Is Felipe dead? Or was that a Son being wheeled out in the bag? If he is dead, could it lead to Angel killing EZ to put a stop to all the bloodshed? And do we see Chibs and/or Tig in the final EP? Really wanted to see Rat & T.O back as well.

Edit: Another thing, if Felipe is dead & Angel dies, after Wendy talking to him about Sofia & asking if he has any kids, does EZ get custody of Maverick?

originally I was gonna say Norco was too far north for Wendy to be driving around by chance, but it does sit close to San Bernadino (Norco is in the red circle). Problem is, Santo Padre is fictitious as far as I can tell, just like Charming…and I thought it was closer to the border…oh well…

Hate to cast shadows of doubt, but Kim Coates kinda said something along the lines of “let it die”the other day when someone said they wished it was still going… if it were to be revived, it would probably need to be after Chibs and Tig have died…

So we get the Jon Snow treatment for EZ.

And fin.

Will probably need to re-watch over the weekend, but it feels like it’s gonna be a series i appreciate watching, but won’t yearn for re-runs… Still not sure why any of the Iron War Prison guards, Brokeback Ranch or ex military storylines were in anyway necessary. Soledad too for that matter.

Don’t know what happened to Terry after going to the Mayans clubhouse. Isaak went out like a biatch in 2 minutes…even he said “this isn’t how it ends”… “I’m not ready to die yet”… the other 2 who did Felipe dirty (Joker and Hoosier - even though I don’t recall their names ever being mentioned on screen) met Mr Mayhem too…SOA, San Bernardino division, punk’d out with little to no time nor effort. Sad.

Alvarez had a kid….awww.

Galindo killed by his miserable wife minutes before he was going to spill on Potter and set up a new life of love and honesty…if only she knew…if only we cared…

so EZ and Angel had a brutal ending in different ways. And for no other reason bar circumstances…let’s kill a pregnant woman. In some ways, the charter being mass executed by the ATF is justice served…another way of saying “no spin-offs!”. At least Nestor and Bottles died fully patched members…pretty quick with the sewing of patches too, considering the blood of EZ was still moist on the ground…

Far too many convoluted and unnecessary storylines. It could have been great, it ended meh. Glad I watched it, but it won’t live high in my memories going forward…

The legend of Potter lives on…

Lots to unpack there.

The war with the Sons was just so incredibly underwhelming - they've only got themselves to blame for that though, they ran out of time to make it anything else. In all we know about the Sons/Mayans wars over the two shows, that was all far too easy.

EZ's demise was frustratingly predictable. It had to end that way and yet, absolutely everybody saw it coming. I'd like to know what Creeper's bird said to Bishop, I presume she must've showed proof for them to all turn around that badly. Not that it matters (a rat would never survive) but wasn't the snitching about the cartel, rather than the club?

Wtf was the point in killing the pregnant GF? Did they think she was in on it? When she said she'd tell him that night, it cemented absolutely everything going wrong.

Angel's ending was ok - I get it, I just don't think that guy will ever survive on his own being a janitor. A few characters had suggested it over the two shows, none could ever actually do it (think Opie in the early seasons).

Letty's scenes were entirely pointless. I also thought EZ lived on Mayan property - obviously not if she could just drive in and out with no one noticing.

Emily's ending was again, just odd. I totally forgot she had a sister or that it was Luis that killed her.

The 3 brothers never realised they were - what's the point of that storyline if it ultimately led nowhere?

The Potter/government storyline was shit and not at all necessary.

Alvarez was never going to settle down. Would Clay have done that? Why then would Marcus?

Ultimately, EZ led them to the promised land, only for the whole chapter to die out the very same day.

Think the ending would've been better with Marcus back at the head of the table.
