I was pushing for him to play at some stage but watched him against Port Melbourne the benchmark in the VFL and was extremely poor, conditions perhaps didnt suit but Griff played himself into the seniors that day McBean did not. No point bringing him in if just for sake of it needs to grab the chance rather than have it handed to him. Goals against clearly the worst side in the VFL may be a little misleading

I'd like to see him play against the Saints . One game experience will mean a truck load over the pre season. If we don't we are not fair dinkum about developing players and we may as well just top up again on spuds like Hampson and Thomas.

I agree about the results against the easy beats in the VFL but the fact is the kid has talent and a lot of it.

Guess this sums up the McBean situation best:
Liam McBean
5 goals, 10 disposals, 5 marks

Made the most of his opportunities on the night but took a little bit to get going in the first half. Had a massive third quarter where he kicked three of his five goals. Constantly kept leading up the ground, which is what we expect him to do.

As those who have watched him a few times this year have said, he makes the most of his opportunities, but isn't having a consistent 4 quarter impact. Leave him in the reserves, see if he can win the goal kicking there and let him develop his game.

Im happy to back the club on this guy, he didnt do too well in the NAB game although was coming off an injury I think.
Still skinny and its not like we desperately need him to kick our goals in the 1sts, happy for him to keep developing in the 2's.

As Tim Clarke said, the coaches know that he would no doubt be able to kick goals in the AFL, but there is more to being a forward in the AFL these days than simply kicking goals. He's working on these other aspects of his game, improving steadily, and he will get his shot eventually.

Seriously??... the whole reason he's still in the magoos is that we are still developing him... Clarke's writeup today suggests they are working on his forward defensive pressure.... he's got plenty of time.

Well if Griff's hand is injured then you'd imagine that next in line would be either Mcbean, Elton or Orren. Based on form you would have to say that the Bean will debut.

There were a couple of pics posted of McBean and Chocco wrestling and Al Paton suggested it could be about hims debuting. RFC_Official seemed to knock it on the head saying that Chocco regularly does 1-1 work with younger players after training or gets a couple of them to do 1-1 work.
