Carisbrook v Harcourt Grand Final

The player who jumps the fence was subjected to disgraceful abuse all day about his young daughter who is fighting serious health issues - so don’t pre judge the player too harshly - he jumped the fence to support his family - police later escorted the initiators of the abuse from the ground which sums it all up
Curious- the player in question was the only one who heard the family related abuse? and then chose this exact moment to jump the fence and start taking cheap shots....

Not saying it isn't true but there appears to be many many many holes in that version of the story and the timing of retaliation

Didn't look like he was cuddling his wife, but if she was being threatened I understand the emotion involved

That's also not the story offered originally

Im not excusing anyone. Im saying the story being told doesn't match the footage of a player going someone nobody else is. I'd believe there's likely abuse of some kind being thrown around but doesn't add up
I don’t believe the story being told
If there were people saying disgusting things then they should have been escorted off beforehand
There is a number to text for that behaviour at every grand final
Doesn’t add up

His mother in-law tried to break it up I believe and was shoved over/ out of the way. There was a lot that went on before the footage. Including one of the blokes throwing abuse king hitting someone trying to defuse the situation. The whole situation is so hard to get your head around. What the player was subjected to in being spat on + the family abuse is disgusting but to jump the fence and join in the fight is just unheard of. Will be interesting to see what the investigation into it comes up with.

What happens if the player hit the guy and the guy fell and hit his head on the concrete and died?.

Does the excuse of he or his family members getting verbally abused justify a man's death?

There is absolutely no justification for the guy jumping the fence
None
I agree. I hope I didn't come across as defending the player above, but those things someone had confirmed as happening before the footage, so I thought they were worth mentioning.

Any word on a suspension for the player yet?
I know the league are having it independantly reviewed to figure out the punishment. How long that takes who knows. I imagine the sooner the better for the player, club and league?

Having seen a similar case in the past (pre 16-match threshold), the player got 3 years and was reduced to 2 years on appeal upon completion of an anger management course.

John Bourke (Collingwood Reserves) got 16 weeks for jumping the fence and striking a spectator (heckler) on top of 10 years for kicking an umpire and striking a player in a televised match - the one when Slug Jordan said "I reckon they'll take the boy off now".

I think the verdict will excess the threshold.

Horrendous….even worse that a player runs off tbe ground to get involved and then back on to the ground to keep playing
Hey your caption says Lalbert for ever? I have family out that way you probably have heard of the Bibby's lol not just the Navarre ones but the Mallee ones
