I'm not watching the game tonight/today for you over there, because I don't have foxtel. But I'm on the AFL site with the score updates and player info and i've noticed that dougs hasn't got one possi yet and its in the 4th q. Can someone tell me is he injured? Getting hammered? or another reason. Cheers.

PS: Just seen he got a kick.

All the forwards were hopeless.........The whole forward set up is a disgrace........Staker did nothing either until moved further up the ground.

Once again we continue to play a forward structure which is congested resulting in a lack of space for anyone to do anything.

Look at the other end and you see McPharlin with all the space in the world and its no wonder he boots half a dozen goals.

Going to be a long season if we continue setting up with six forwards all packed in like that tonight.

Its amazing how the coaching staff can miss this, we had a conjested foward line in the finals and we struggled the score yet they choose to stick with it?
Give the Key Fowards some space and have the crumbers hanging off them! its no wonder we lose with 6 fowards who have no space to lead into.
My solution, take a few players play them further up the ground and maybe even move somebody into loose man in defence. McDougal all alone up foward with whoever we have as our crumber playing off Doogs and when Hunter plays we can have 2 fowards both leading in oposite directions out of the goal square.

I thought Staker was quite good actually, McDougall just kept getting in his way. The rest were hopeless, but in all honesty the delivery wasnt much better

McDougall was pretty much himself today - crap.

In fact, I saw little improvement from any of the KP players...

Lynch - as uncoordinated as ever
Hansen - led well early, couldn't hold them
Staker - couple of strong marks but doesn't present enough but the congested forward structure didn't help
Gaspar - doesn't look up to it

Quite a concern really. I was most disappointed with McDougall, Lynch and Gaspar - all had points to prove and none did.

I thought Gaspar wasnt too bad myself, when he had a opponent he looked half decent, he sure is no FB tho but cud hold down CHB IMO, anyway half of McPharlins goals were all uncontested marks anyway.

Bit harsh on Staker there jorel, reason he looked bad was not his fault thats for sure, Doogs kept gettin in his way

Yeah Embers, but that was why I said the congested forward line didn't help.

I like Staker, and definitely see him improving. I'm happy with him and Hansen, as they are still pretty green. Once they hit 60 games then I think they'll blossom.

The other three... well they're pretty mediocre. But in a regular season game I couldn't see more than one of three playing, if any at all. Hopefully Graham gets a few chances this year.

On Mcdougall, i dont rate him as a player BUT to put today down as a bad day would be unfair to him the delivery all game was attrocious just about every kick to him was on top of his head and there was no chance anyone would have had a chance to mark it not even wayne carey. and on mcpharlins marks being all uncontested and kicking goals this is not his fault if someone i.e backman, was there creating a contest then he would have been able to take a contseted mark, in my opinion he will dominate the competition this year if left alone up forward so i wouldnt be to harsh on the eagles today.

None of our foward problems from last season even looked like being solved.

- Still kick to the boundary to leading forwards
- Hansen still drops everything
- Delivery not favouring the fowards 99% of the time
- Doogs still drops everything
- About 1.1 marks inside 50 the whole game and even when one is taken it's a midfielder such as Stenglein.

Looking pretty bleak fellas. Then again we still have Hunter to come back.

Hunter needs to be given a run at FF.

He demands the ball in the way he leads, something neither McDougall or Staker do. Although they weren't really given much to work with today.

Our forward line is too tall. I'd like to see how we go with a two-pronged attack with Hunter at FF, Hansen at CHF and the rest of the forward line comprised of medium and small players.

My Two Cents.........

Hunter is our best tall half back. Take him away and we're in trouble.
Staker is not a KPP. He is a good second tall in defence or attack.
Hansen is good if presented with decent service. Not 100% fit yet.
Gaspar has great talent and will be good if he can get fit.
Glass is a top FB only 80% fit
Lynch is too slow for CHB but will present well and provide a target at FF
McDoogall is a wimp, he has speed but a bit of contact scares him. Put him into the WAFL until he grows up (if ever).

With the exception of McDud the others can be very good contributors when the season starts.........which is more than a month away.

Starting to get sick of Doogs trying to go for a chestmark all the time and seeing the defender punch the ball out with ease. Would be nice if he could mark one with his arms out straight.

I thought that McDougall started out okay by laying a good bump but then couldn't get near the ball for the rest of the game ! Fremantle just wanted it more than the Eagles I guess. Oh well, try again in the next game !

The main reason our forwardline gets too crowded is that, because of our midfields dominance, other teams like to have a loose man in our forwardline, Woosha hates this, and then mans them up, this continues to happen until we have about 9 players from each side in our forwardline and the opposition has 3 players from each side in their attacking 50. This has to be rectefied if we are going to win a flag this year. IMO Woosha needs to allow the opposition to have a free man in our forwardline and make sure the forwards chase hard (like Sampi always does), leaving Wirra free in our defensive 50 and back him to be more damaging than the free player in out forward 50. Unfortunatly I think Woosha will continue to man up the free men in our forwardline, which is why our forwards often get blamed when we loose, I think Woosha is a great coach, but he needs to fix this problem if we are going to win a flag this year.
