MCG showing time remaining on the fence

Do people really like this?

I've hated it the two times I've been to the MCG and it ruins a part of the suspense of it when it gets close. The game today would have taken it away for the supporters there.

Furthermore, the players can see it. Removing the communicated element for the runner to players.

Isnt at every game? Its a Tissot sponsor thing. wont be shown in the last 5 mins though i think.

Haven't noticed it at Ethiad earlier. It shown 2.35 during today's game

Countdown clocks totally wreck the suspense of the game, whether it be on TV or Tissot's stupid advertising.

The 5 minute warning was tops :thumbsu:

No you haven't.

It's MCG only.
I am almost certain I have. There was a big thread about it here. It was a Tissot thing as a sponsor of the footy, nothing to do with the MCG.

I'm fairly sure it stops in the last two minutes of quarters but five or six of the game.

I don't think it's a huge tactical deal for players- they have to be looking at the exact right time to see it, and they are busy playing footy instead! Also, coaches and players on the bench know the time so most players on the field are pretty clued in.

What I don't love is that we are prepared to change such a core part of our games history so quickly and thoughtlessly for sponsorship dollars.

I liked the 5 minute warning but don't mind either way. Sometimes it's just as exciting seeing to time run down when your team is trying to hang on for a win.
