McGlynn's disposal

Re: McGlynn: Horrid disposal

As I said before, Not one mention of Mitchell's 2 butchered turnovers resulting in goals and hardly a mention of McGlynn's pass to Roughy to seal the match. People get things in their heads and miss the positives.

Benny named in the top 4 players for Hawks. Seems the coaching staff are happy enough with his game despite what the experts here say.

Go Benny

Re: McGlynn: Horrid disposal

Hi tried to drill a few passes which ended up grubbing their way along the ground, but I can excuse that given all the positives in his game last night.

Ran hard to provide an option coming down the ground and was terrific at the stoppages.

Re: McGlynn: Horrid disposal

There is no chance in hell you'd have McGlynn over Tucky or Mossy...

That's why you will never coach the Hawthorn football club.

The coaching staff love him and when he's fit he's ahead of Tuck, Morton, Moss, Stokes.

Re: McGlynn: Horrid disposal

And hey!! why can't I start a freakin thread??? I'm not sure how many post's you gotta make or how many threads you gotta play privy too but I just wanna know... HOW LONG. Simple question, simple reply..........
How many posts before a user can start a thread?

You cannot start threads within five days. After five days if you have 25 posts* or more, then you can post. Any time you pass 25 posts you will be upgraded. If after 21 days, you still haven't got 25 posts, the posts qualification drops to 5 posts.

* Posts only include those posts which count towards your post count, ie, not posts on some of the 'games' boards.

Re: McGlynn: Horrid disposal

He tries to stab pass everything. He just needs to be told to chip the ball gently and let the players run onto it as he is not as naturally skilled like mitchell hodge etc.

Have a look at the way Birch kicks, he never drills it, just chips it out in front like Robert Harvey.

If he can start doing this, He will be very valuable to the team (not saying he isnt already)

Re: McGlynn: Horrid disposal

Yes Ben did drop his passes short tonight but he will get better becuase his technique is sound one or two more games and he will be good, the player who is a real concern with his foot skill is tuck , I dont think he wil improve in this area much because his technique is flawed this combined with his lack of speed and slow decision making should see him at box hill not mcglynn

Re: McGlynn: Horrid disposal

It's actually impressive in a way how he manages to kick the ball 30 metres without it ever getting higher than 30cm of the deck. :D

Whether or not he makes our best 22 when everyone is up and running, we need his hardness at the contest at this point in time. We have been missing that sort of intensity. You can't underestimate how important that is. That sort of pressure won us the game last night as it caused Freo to make disposal errors again and again.

Nice post, but you forget that the experts here saw the game on TV and know exactly what happened out on the ground...

For the others out there, recall what Bateman's kicking used to be after a gut-busting run. When you run a hundred metres at top speed to make position, disposal can suffer. As he got more games and experience, Bateman's disposal has got better, where it is now at an elite level.

Give McGlynn time: he's had 2 games after being out for 12 months, and can only improve.

And he had a great game last night.

Re: McGlynn: Horrid disposal

He is quick and thats what we need, especially right now. If he can do what clarke did and learn to kick within his limitations he will be a real asset but his disposal can let him down sometimes.

Added some real enthusiasm to the team. Like his work, but his kicking was poor. It will improve. :thumbsu:

Re: McGlynn: Horrid disposal

Mighty Mouse IMO will be in our best 22 come seasons end his 2007 form was fantastic & after 2 games back is starting to do what i know he is capable of achieving......:thumbsu: yes he needs to work on his disposal but hey he can find the pill & his appetite for the contest is fantastic!

Re: McGlynn: Horrid disposal

He had many mates butcher the ball as well.
I certainly agree with that statement.. Mitch's disposal left me cringing at times tonight, how many times did he kick it to an opponent. What about Morton, gave it up to Freo, and because of these bad disposals, it gave Freo goals..If there is no one in the near vicinity to kick it to, for goodness sake, just kick it long toward our forward line, it's better than kicking it to an opponent near their forward 50. Can't understand, just kick it away from the opposition's attacking 50.. Do I make sense? Even if an opposition player marks the ball down field near our forward 50, we have more chance of getting it back, than just handing it to an opposition who then kicks a goal!!

I thought he had a great game, BUT his disposal is poor, it has been his weakness whenever he has played. Cant fault his effort, determination & bravery AND the great job he did on Hasebly. The fact that others had poor disposal doesnt make any difference.

For him to get into our best 22 he would need to fix that aspect of his game IMO

His disposal isn't the greatest, but he makes up for it in hitting the packs hard, contested posessions, and tackles. Did well overall and will keep his spot in the team because he deserves it!

No question he has guts, but this bloke's disposal ranks up there with the worst I've seen. I'm on edge everytime he gets his hands on it.

Should he be returned to Box Hill where I daresay he belongs?

I reckon apprentice scum like you should just **** right off where you belong....an absolute shit comment

forget about the shut-down role he did on Haselby last night? yeah you would

I concur to the above, he had the problem with disposal when he first broke through to the seniors, and now getting back in again has the same issue. But in saying that, he continuously throws himself relentlessly at the ball on every occasion, albeit playing for a free kick here and there - he does what is asked of him and if can improve on his kicking, then hes right about there in our best 22.

Some of the replies here are indicative of the average maturity level here on bigfooty, which is rather lower than I'd hoped it would be.

If you disagree with my opinon that's fine, but at least have the courtesy to express yourself with a shred of dignity please.

Why do you go about rubbishing our players?

Why don't you piss off and go and follow Richmond instead?
