My top 5 are

1. Ron Barassi Jnr - said hello when he was waiting to go into a function in Bank Ln, Melbourne. Showed him a photo of our cat called Ron Barassi. He asked me whether I was a demon supporter and I said “yes”. He said I was a very clever young lady (I liked this part very much) and his buddy asked if I would like him to take a photo. I said “yes” and he took my phone and did one of those “old guy puzzling over new-fangled technology” scenes. But he took one great photo of me and Ronnie Dale, five artistic shots of cobblestones and a really good picture of my trainers and ankles. Turns out the photographer was Knuckles Kerley

2. Nathan Jones. Lovely smile with great dimples. Met him as his player sponsor in 2021. Showed me about 50 photos of his kids and I got cramp smiling and nodding. Really liked him.

3. Dean Terlich - even better dimples. Met him at a family day and went for a chat because I felt bad that even Billy Stretch had a queue of people who wanted an autograph or photo, but he was all on his own. My heart went out to him, so I over compensated with a made up story about his always being my favourite player and I really hoped he would get some games that year. He signed my autograph footy, looked at me like I was a lunatic, and escaped. I liked him for his judgement.

4. Max Gawn. Gets points for the fact he met me twice, and the second time he remembered me from the first time. He specifically remembered that the first time he met me I said “wow, you are weird tall. How do you stand up on trams?” He also thought I was a lunatic, but didn’t seem to mind as much as Terlich. He also said that he “****ing loves beating Port [Adelaide] which was interesting

5. Oscar McDonald. Absolute hoot. Very funny and takes the piss out of his brother and himself. Joked about getting a Brownlow (vote) once and I recited the game, venue, time of day, what I ate at half time etc. He looked at me like I was a lunatic, but in a friendly way.

I liked James McDonald because he gave me a nod.*

He was hatless at the time.

*I think. It's possible I misinterpreted.
I never got a nod from James McDonald so that’s pretty amazing.

I also never came across him, but I doubt I would have got such a good nod.

Thread should be "Has a MFC player ever looked at you like you're a lunatic?" Or "Rate this former MFC player's dimples"
The other good dimples player I have met was Dean Kent. He also had really blue eyes and dark lashes. I met him when I was in the Gosches Park area and went over to join the weirdos who hang around training.

He came up for a chat - probably to get out of his tedious recovery group program for a few minutes. He and my partner swapped knee reco stories for a bit, and he showed us his hamstring surgery scars.

I was at a seafood shop in Prahran buying prawns, mussels, flathead tails etc and I asked if they had any fish frames or trimmings so I could make a stock for bouillabaisse. They only had salmon frames and they’re too oily to make good stock. Then the tall guy next to me said that he was buying a large snapper and asking the fishmonger to take the fillets off it, so I could have his snapper trimmings. And it was Robert Walls

I've said it before, but i've met a few players but Jack Viney stood out. Was at a first year members function in 2015, I'm not the most sociable person. Both Petracca and Viney (both injured at the time) do some little speeches at a podium and then afterwards get out and mingle around the supporters in the room. Anyways they get swamped and quiet shy me at the time just gives up on fighting the crowd and doesn't want to bother anyone. I know they're trained to deal with the public and ect, but it will always stand out to me. Viney kind of sees me on my own, burns a few people and comes over to talk to me. It's just always stuck in my memory, i know it's just something he did to make a paying member feel included, but he could have easily just worked the room and not bothered

I met Dunn in that 2015 game at Docklands against GWS, that final round game in front of no one where Cross got knocked out in his last game. Being the 2015 game the place was empty and Dunn was having shots on goal prematch, asked to have a photo and had a chat. Dunn started forward that game too for something different and kicked a couple

I met Dunn again, Garland, Hulett and Mitch White at 2016 queens birthday. Dunn and Garland where pretty chill. Hulett i know has since gone off the rails after his short stint on the list, but he felt odd at the time. Also got to meet Robbo too

Met Banno after a game, very very nice. A lot of the AFLW group are very chill. Kate Hore also pretty good, makes sure to get around the supporters and tell them their support is appreciated. Zanker another good meet, she does have that country vibe about her, so i guess finds other country people easy haha. I didn't realise how long her arms where until i met her in person

Then yeah met a bunch recently in Mansfield. They're all pretty alright. Gawn is a standout with kids. Lever is pretty alright

Non Melbourne include
I met Mathew Richardson twice, once as a kid he was at a signing and while i didn't care for footy my step father a mad tigers supporter made us go and get signatures (there was another player, i don't remember who). I met him again in 2016 as he was heading into docklands to work a Melbourne v Saints game. Very nice fella, stopping and talking to people on the way in

As a kid again, Aker at Brisbane airport

Tom Rockliff being a Benalla boy was injured at some point when he was captain during the season. I was at my local ymca and i had to double a take because (yeah i know he's from Benalla) but this Brisbane player mid season just jumps on the exercise bike next to me, then pulls up this video review of Leppa going over the game they'd just lost while he's on the bike. After he left the guy who works the gym section of the ymca (pretty fit dude) has a go at trying his settings on the bike and doesn't make it far

Most recently, i took a little richmond supporter to anzac day eve for his first game at the MCG for work. A lot of richmond boys where walking to the ground from punt rd after the reserves game and Liam Baker passed us. Once being told who it was because i wasn't paying attention i actually shouted out to him (quite different from me in 2015 right?) and asked him if him and the young fella could have a photo. Liam was pretty nice and even though he must have been confused to be flagged down by a guy in Melbourne gear he was polite enough to stop and take the photo. Absolutely made that kids day as the game didn't really work out for him. I do remember saying to myself when i got back to my hotel, **** i hope he doesn't leave now. But hey still a photo with someone forever a Richmond premiership player
