God help us.

The real question is why do 10K Richmond fans not want a ticket to see their team play?

Indeed. Some things are imponderable. Another is why over the past decade so many Ticketed Hawks haven't turned up to see their team play so often. Who can tell the fickle ways of folk?

Anyone nearly 39,000 people paying to be members of our club is great.

So you are telling me that Richmond has told the AFL not to include 5K interstate members in the official figure?
BAH!
BTW the Mighty Hawks have just broken through the club record with over 41,700 members.

Great effort. Isn't it good to see the 2 East Melbourne teams with a combined total of over 80,000 paid up members in early March?

Alot of it has to do with making the finals in 1995 after 13 years in the wilderness and looking like a team of the future at that point but failing badly for the next 5 years under Walls and Geishan. So you wouldn't expect big membership numbers until we made the finals more than one year in succession. Membership only really started becoming popular around the year 2000 anyway. Hawks have been the best club at turning supporters into members since 2000. Don Scott made a big thing about it

Not really

We had 28,002 members in 2006 yet in 3 years could break 50,000

Do you really think we were still 'one of the best clubs at converting supporters to members' pre 2008?

May be we dont have a whole state behind us .... Mim 10 k members from Tassie

4 game Tassie pass ....

Try again

A campaign to broaden the club's membership base in Tasmania is about to begin but already membership in the Apple Isle, where the Hawks have a lucrative sponsorship arrangement with the state Government, is 40 per cent up on last year. According to Robson, the club could have as many as 6000 members in Tasmania this year and, as a sign of a broadening appeal, up to 2000 in Western Australia.

FWIW, Richmond (with Cousins) has 400 WA members

prove it lol

Okay

From 30th May 2008 (breaking 40,000 ticketed members)

Hawks members make history

The Club continues to find great support in Tasmania, with one in four Auskick participants barracking for the Hawks. The Club also enjoys a strong membership base in the Apple Isle, which makes up 10 percent of Hawthorn’s total membership.

DO the math

10% of 41,686 is????

I reckon its great for footy with multiple clubs looking certain to break record memberships, but clubs need to ensure that they are able to then keep consistent membership totals for longer periods.

Imagine if Collingwood was to win a flag, 50-60k members wouldnt be out of the picture as a premiships brings out alot of bangwagon suporters
