Membership 2024

I've been a September member for 7 years and it's jumped up to $100 for me too. Looks like the Digital Memberships have gone up in price as well unfortunately!

Ahh remember the good old days when they were giving memberships away and September member was $30.

But ....

I read on the page that the allocation of September memberships is full. Can't give then up now.
This was the same last year. They opened for whatever free September memberships were available towards the end of January.

I wouldn’t be surprised if some dropped off having seen a GF win - considering the cost increase, plus the effort and cost of travelling to Melbourne for another GF.

We did both recent gfs and before this one said if we won that'd be enough and we wouldn't go again because it's so expensive.

Clearly we were talking through our butts cause after winning there is no way we will miss another one.

We have family accommodation now so that saves a bundle and I bought air tickets early. Was a gamble that I actually won.

Geez the digital membership has gone from $242 to $350! That’s a crazy jump for a non-access membership. Hopefully someone can do a screenshot of the cheapest club digital memberships like last year.
They will all be the same price. Kayo made a change this year so I don't think any club will be offering cheaper than $350

Are you still lower tier gads?
I'm thinking of going to section 226 one section closer to goal and saving $100
If you like your seats i personally would not do that.
It may be $100 but think of it this way it's only an extra $9 per game.
If you pay up front and believe it is now getting a bit high. Membership is due 2/12/24 and we all have other payments due and then there is Christmas expenses. Consider paying it off with 10 installments via Loyal Lion payment if you are not already doing that.

Moving seats is a risk especially with memberships increasing rapidly and we have just come off winning a GF.
I see a lot of 3 game memberships moving to season members. Thats what the club would like to happen

No guarantee that you get a seat you request.
The last time i did this was three years ago and they placed me outside the 3 different section seating numbers that i could pick at that time. And they were way off the area i wanted to sit in.
After a few phone calls i got 2 seats next to one of the seats i requested.

Don't forget when you choose to move you forfeit your old seats and they go up for sale to new members

…except the expansion clubs.
The Giants will be offering free digital memberships to anyone in who lives west of the Balmain who knows what the full verbiage for the acronym “AFL” is.

The Suns will be handing out free digital memberships to anyone willing to take salary cap space or picks in the national draft off their hands.

I really really ****ing wish this was true. :( Kayo being a necessary evil to watch more than two Lions games a year sucks.

I see they’ll be showing some AFL games and content Binge next year.
Binge looks cheaper than Kayo.

It does mention Thursday, Friday & Sunday games though (which could mean they only show games that are on FTA, leaving Saturday exclusive to Foxtel/Kayo subscriptions). Maybe wait for the fixture and 2025 media deal to drop before depending on Binge, but if you pay for multiple streamers it could be an option to consolidate.

I share a Kayo subscription with my brother, but rarely watch anything other than AFL & cricket.

We are all talking about price increases which is fair enough.
To get some money back posters should consider "Going Green" if they usually don't use any of the membership pack.
I have been green for quite a few years as there is nothing in the pack that is of interest or use to me.

Going green will get you a supercharged Lions $30 voucher. What that means is your $20 voucher becomes $30
So, just an extra $10.
Even though i have been green for quite a while i went through the process to make sure i will get the voucher.

The process very easy if you go via the clubs email on membership.

rang bang on at 10am local time to add another member to the account. young man on the phone said they've been inundated for memberships. He said the small team thats on the phones were betting on 75,000 members this year. I tried getting an additional September membership and he said they've all been exhausted. many three game members upgrading to full membership and also much more Victorian members were the calls he noticed yesterday.

I predicted that a few posts above. A GF win gives the 3-game member an appetite for more.
However, that move does not increase our membership, but it is what the club prefers.
Membership increase will come from other arears.

Yep, section 221 which is the same essentially as 226. We used to be 225 (or 226. Old memory) back row until they demolished the two rows for disability seating and we were forced to move. We are right next to the aisle that also serves 222 (your current equivalent). So at the mid field end of the section. Almost back row, and even that elevation makes a difference.

The only knock was when we first moved a few years back there were too many seats not with members and opposition fans could end up near us. I remember your end as higher density lions fans. Not really an issue last year and with expected increase in membership and higher prices probably a total non issue next year.

The higher tiers are great for watching tactic and position stuff when we sit in them for finals but we still end up ball watching so not worth the dollars. And as you know ground level crazies are heaps of fun to be around..
I hear ya,
When I'm in the lower tiers it feels like I'm actually in the game ( in my mind ), where if I'm up high, I feel like I'm watching it as a pure spectator, an anylist.
That makes probably little sense , but I think it's just hearing the hits and the sound of the leather off the boot , being close to the interchange bench , having all those supporters behind me as well , total saturation of the senses.

Back to changing seats , I'll have a chat tonight with my son, see what he thinks, but in all honesty I wouldn't mind moving around a bit closer to goal.
The main reason that's holding me in the same seats are the guys that sit next to us, been the same for around 10 or more years.
But things change , and this year in particular I noticed the randoms sitting in and around us.
The chatty ones discussing their holidays , their jobs, i mean watch the game and stfu.
pfft.

Okay, I'm thinking there would be little chance to get a swap done finding spare seats in my desired section .
Would maybe have to wait till after the existing members have their chance to renew, and as you say that would be a gamble as we forfeit our seats.

I think when I first became a September member back in 2011 it was like $20 and you got two free guest passes per. It probably still makes sense at $100 but is a big jump.

All about supply and demand.
If we become a crap side again heaven forbid, the $100 probably drops back accordingly.

Same with membership price increases when the Gabba has sold out 8 of 11 H&A games and the 1 final.

It looks like the club has changed some seating prices and some members find themselves upgraded.
A couple next to me have mentioned a few times that they don't have September membership as they are too old to bother with the hassle of organizing and going down to a GF.
They just happen to fall into the Deluxe seating area so their ticket price would have gone up considerably (2x $100 at a minimum) to cover the Priority 1 access now built into the ticket.
A reasonably large number of seats are affected (pink Deluxe area) so i am sure there is a lot of people in the same boat.
It would not surprise me if they don't renew or apply to move seating.
I won't know until the first Gabba game if they decided to stay put.

The club should have done better to inform members earlier that there were changes coming up in 2025.
Explain the changes 1 week before this membership renewal email was sent.

Yeah, just edited the post. One youth was changed to concession.

I know the family of four used to be the cost of two adults which included the two kids, then changed to $40 per kid and now $75.

I'll check out the loyalty discount.
What qualifies for concession - do students? I couldn't find anything on the website
