Hopefully Erik Spoelstra does the right thing and keep Beasley from when we draft him.

We can be easy playoff contenders next year if we get our roster right, and things go our way...

BTW. Draft is in 2 weeks time.... (Fingers crossed)

Possible trade to Minnesota:

2nd pick (Michael Beasley) + Mark Blount (8 Million in Salary)

for

3rd Pick (OJ Mayo, Brook Lopez) + Telfair or Jaric.

It would be good for us, cause we need to get rid of Blount cause he's getting paid 8 Million for the next 3 years and it would clear up our Salary Cap and use the cap space for Free Agency use. We'd then be able to draft OJ Mayo and play him at PG, or draft Brook Lopez, then get Telfair included in the trade. And vice-versa if we draft Mayo, then we'd try and get Jaric included in the Trade instead.

Minnesota would easily accept the offer cause they desperately want and need Beasley.

Great result for us today, I think we were a winner definitely.

Obviously Beasley is a gun, but landing Chalmers was a good piece of business. He was projected mid first round before the draft. I know a bit about him and he's an NBA ready guard. I wouldn't imagine he'd start too many games but we got someone we needed.

Although this leaves some problems for next season's draft. IIRC our first round pick goes to the Wolves from the Davis/Blount trade. One of our second rounders also goes to the Wolves from the chalmers trade. I think this might only leave us with 2 second round picks...

I think now we can rule out a move for any of the big free-agents (Brand, Maggette, Arenas) and if anything maybe try and lure in a centre (Biedrins from GSW is a resticted free agent) or i'd love to see Rasheed Wallace as I've said before although I'm not sure detroit would be interested.

Marion and Haslem are very attractive trade bait.

Depth chart.
PG - Chalmers, Quinn, Williams, Banks
SG - Wade, Cook, Davis
F - Beasley, Haslem, Marion, Wright
C - Blount, Zo, Anthony

Others - Ahearn, Barron, Alexander Johnson, Lasme, Powell)

There's still along way to go, if we cut a few guys it leaves space for some others to come in and have a crack although I think it's pretty certain 08/09 wont be as bad as 07/08.

Alexanda Johnson has been Waived!!!

Also Chris Quinn has been offered a new contract.:thumbsu: Cheap Labour.

Marion will also not opt out of his 17 million dollar contract, we'll either trade him or just simply keep him with us. Either way is good.

ATM, our lineup will look like this...

C: Haslem
PF: Beasley
SF: Marion
SG: Wade
PG: Williams

J.Doug will most likely be offered another contract with us BTW.

HEAT UPDATE

Heat have given [resign] offers to:

Dorell Wright
Chris Quinn

Heat, Yet to give [resign] offers to:

Jason Williams
Ricky Davis
Zo Mourning
Earl Barron

Heat Signed: (Undrafted players)

David Padgett: College Stats> 11.2 points, 4.8 rebounds in 26 games.

Nothing special about this guy, just a good offensive presence on court who had an extraordinarily high FG percentage for the season [aprox. 67%], if only he put up more shots.

Jason Richards: College Stats> 12.7 points, 8.1 assists in 36 games

Jason Richards lead the country with the most assists in a season 293, and yet, wasn't drafted on draft night.

Heat are very interested in these players at free agency:

Sebastian Telfair (Very good player, will sign for around 4 to 6 million)
Shaun Livingston (Uses the same Manager as Dwyane Wade)
Carlos Arroyo (Cheap Labour)
Keyon Dooling (Ex-Heat member)
Nenad Krystic (Since Diop went back to Mavs, Nenad would be one of the only ideal C's to go for)
Kwame Brown (Would go pretty cheap, but would have to be last resort for Heat)

If Telfair got his game going he would be an absolute ripper IMO. Was a dominant high school player in New York and probably entered the league far to early, college would have been very beneficial. Hopefully he matures and stops any off court problems he has had in the past and lives up to the hype he got a few years back.

Livingston had the horror injury that could have ended his career, and like Telfair was also was a gun prospect at the point so hopefully his back up and running, would be a shame if he didnt fulfill his potential. 6ft 7 Pgs aren't the most common things around.

Stephon Marbury is being waived or bought out soon so theirs an option...

We'd have to give him a major Pay-Cut though!!!

--------------------------------------------------------
Looks like we're gonna get Keyon Dooling...

Even though it makes me cringe to say it, but its getting closer and closer for him becoming a Heat once again.

Unless a trade comes about, theres not much else on the market.

Also, Michael Beasley cracked his sternam in training a few days back, Medico's say its pretty much un-seable on the X-Ray which means it'll heal slowly over time but will have no effect on him at all.:thumbsu::thumbsu:

He'll be playing summer league this monday.... (Tuesday our time)

Summer league started today with Miami having a good win over a fairly decent Chicago team who had Rose, Tyrus Thomas, Joakim Noah and Demetris Nichols all starting.

We won 94-70 with Beasley exploding going for 28 points and 9 boards in just under 23 minutes.

Mario Chalmers judging by the stats also had a great start; in 25 minutes (11 points, 6 assists, 4 steals and 1 TO)

Kwame Brown is in the mix of becoming a backup centre for the heat.

The heat have also contacted Nenad Krystic, Francisco Elson, Primoz Brezec, and David Harrison.

The Heat play the Nets tomorrow, in the summerleague.:thumbsu:

Chalmers scored 23 points today including 17-17 from the free throw line!!!

But in even bigger news, we signed James Jones today;

http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/8328748/Jones-deal-will-pay-out-$4M-next-season

He's a 6-8 forward who shot 44% from 3 last season (3rd in the NBA) which is exactly what we need.

Does this mean the end for Ricky Davis? I think it might be.

saw that on espn, beasley had a killer game nailing them from everywhere. Rose looked very jittery, considering the hype around him. Love what beasley said after the game "its just game", "been playing it all my life nothings changed" (it was something along those lines). Think we got ourselves a keeper with beasley. As much as i wanted rose beasley seems to be an even better talent.

I'm soooo excited for next season already. Beasley and Chalmers are gonna be stars in the future, i can't believe how easily we got Chalmers. Adding James Jones to the team will help us out alot, he's a great 3pt shooter and we have lacked one since Kapono and Posey left last season.

I'm hoping we can make a big trade to get a decent center and/or point guard and hopefully trade Blount and Banks. I'm actually hoping we keep J-Will cause i think he's still a decent role player.

J "Doug" is most likely going to the Magic following a lot of interest that orlando have given him...

The only way the magic will be able to get him is probably by only sign&trade.

Yeah i think the Heat are signing Tyronn Lue now anyway so he won't be needed.

Tyronn Lue...... Ha!.....

The Heat would have a better chance in getting a Ring next year with Chalmers as starter.

Signing Lue would be another big mistake like how we signed Smush Parker last year.
