Yep agreed. Horrible luck for him and the dockers. Wish him all the best in his recovery

like Nathan Brown he will find it veryhard to get back to his best footy :(
The only good news from Barlow's break is that it was a clean break unlike Brown's where his leg was completely shattered, so hopefully it doesn't affect Barlow's footy.

It is good news because without complications, he'll probably get the better part of a full pre-season in before the start of the 2011 season. Much better outcome than having them try to rush him back for the 2011 finals and stuffing things up even more.

I was really shattered when I saw it, just a sickening incident and I feel so sorry for Barlow, but also Palmer who was out all of last year with a knee injury. Barlow tried to stand up, what a gutsy guy, hope he recovers well.

Couldn't believe that he tried to stand up, that was just incredible. Could've looked way worse too if he put more weight on the leg :(

Just saw Jack Ziebell go down with a suspected reoccurrence of his broken leg, what a shit weekend from an injury perspective.

yeah he grabbed his leg b4 trying to stand up and you could see the bone move inside, graphic stuff.

Best of luck to him, hope to see him back next year, and hoping freo can keep it up without him, love seein them in the 8.

He would've been in shock, only possible way he'd even be able to consider standing up :(

I guess shock plays a part, but Nathan Brown said on the footy show that while the pain is obvious, you don't immediately know that you've broken your leg until you try to move, something like that anyway. Scary thought...

because he was the player on the lead?
because he was the player the ball was intended for?
because he was the one going for a mark that was rightfully his?

Because as the only one of the two players legitimately attempting to mark the ball with complete vision, he should have either called Barlow out, or pulled out himself. "the mark was rightfully his"? Don't be a complete idiot, riggy. It was either a really poor decision, or really poor communication from Palmer, and given what happened to Nat Fyfe earlier in the game I think the Dockers should have the team doing some communication exercises in the rooms and on the track this week.

It's neither Palmer nor Barlow's fault, it's just bad luck and a rare freak occurrence at that. There were similar defensive slides to the ball done by Crows players last night.

Just horrible to watch, as any breaks or serious knee injuries are. Painful for a mate of mine too. He laid a tenner on him to win the Brownlow at 220-1 after 2 rounds.
Hopefully he returns good as new.

Devastated... Barlow was fast becoming my favourite player outside the Crows. When you watch him play its amazing that he was missed earlier in his career. he is a gun.

Hope he makes a full recovery and is back playing in 2010

Riggy is boringly right. The bloke on the lead has right of way. These things happen and neither might have heard a call against the crowd noise.
Hope Barlow recovers okay. He is good to watch.

no thats wrong, the right of way is with the person runing back with the flight of the ball because they cant see wats coming. obviously there is some grey areas but barlow was runnning towards goal and therefore palmer should have stoped and shepperded or blocked because if barlow marks he could keep running to goals where as ppalmer would have mark and swing around. The rule is always to calll a player back if they are running with the flight of the ball. But obviously he had no idea barlow was there though so its no ones fault just poor comunication between the two.
