G. Lyon has him AA FB currently.:thumbsu:

The same Garry Lyon who apologised on MMM last night for doubting Chris Judd. Just quietly I also think Lyon is working behind the scenes to knife Dean Bailey ... Back on topic Jamo has always been a solid player for mine who had a wretched run with injuries. He is also a well spoken and humble bloke from what I've heard from him. He is a real quiet achiever up until now, where the media is finally giving him his props

That was Jammo's best game...positioned himself well, out muscled a bigger opponent. Got in front. Kicked long & to position....if he can stay injury free this year that form will have him as one of the leading full backs in the AFL

As has been said above, it just goes to show how important it is for players to get a full pre-season in.

Jammo's closing speed with spoiling leading forwards and his good reading of the play had me convinced very early on that he's the best FB we've had since that guy who was the best full-back ever.

His body-on-body work against Tippett a coupla weeks back was awesome, and he's beaten every opponent he's had this year.

Premiership-quality player.

Back and blue

In the season's opening weeks, the layers that have emerged in Jamison's game have been startling. Lloyd has seen him playing in front of the big forwards, cutting off leads, dashing away upfield, kicking the ball more often and very well. The latter has been significant in the Blues' last line launching attacks of greater potency; Lloyd notes that the run and leg speed of the Blues' defence in recent years has been let down by poor disposal.

Brown agrees that the spike in virtually every key area of Jamison's graph - rebound 50s up, possessions won beyond defensive 50 up, disposals way up - married to a maintenance of his stock in trade of outbodying and spoiling big forwards, has resulted in him becoming effectively twice the player.

Blues Jamison to face Nick Riewoldt

CARLTON'S Michael Jamison faces a crucial test of his improvement as a player when he takes on Nick Riewoldt tomorrow night.

The 24-year-old North Ballarat product was ready for the big assignment on the St Kilda skipper after showing enormous improvement in his fifth season, according to Carlton assistant coach Alan Richardson.

"Jamison has been super impressive," Richardson said as the Blues prepared for their round-seven clash at Etihad Stadium.

"He's one of many who are starting to mature as players and having a bigger impact on the game.

Too many positive articles for my liking.

However i'd like to think we have overcome that little hoodoo that comes knocking every time we get talked up. Tonight will tell.

P.S. Jammo is a star

With you on that Naughts, and Robbo has just named Jamo in his early AA side...when this many kisses are being blown your way, one is bound to be the kiss of death...but if there is a level headed bloke in the Blue colours, its Jamo.

As for all the favourable puff pieces about the team, Geeze doesn't the tide turn all of a sudden. Nobody on the Game Plan tipped us against Sydney and not many had media experts us even in the eight before the season started. Talk about blowing in the wind...

I have always thought his disposal is underatted. He has a good kick on him but nobody saw much of it. Has been criticized for not rebounding, but IMO he is playing the way a defender should play, worrying about his opponent getting the ball rather than racking up the touches. has become more attacking this year, and i think that has just come with the extra confidence he would now have to take on the games big forwards now that he has put on a few extra kgs.

still somewhat underrated IMO, and once bower is back in the team jamo will stand out more as our whole defensive unit will look much stronger.

Pants Roo for the first half and broke even with him in the second half, was run up and back until he was vomitting but still stuck to his task. Agree Roos yips helped the stat sheet but most agree Jamo still won the contest overall.

Has been getting a lot of press lately too, so the rest of the footy world is starting to realize what we do.

"The answer is as simple as his body finally allowing him to do what his admirers have always known he was capable of."

As Lake slides, I think only Scarlett is ahead of him as preferred key tall backman and he is getting on in age. Jamo will soon take that mantle of best defender going around. And if great sides are built on defence (disclaimer: I dont subscribe to the theory) then surely great defences are built on the key position tall.

The reason Roo had the 'yips' was because he had to work so hard to get away from Jamo. He worked Jamo over in the second half, but in doing so absolutely knackered himself. Prior to taking his missed shot in the third that went out on the full, Roo was about to keel over. He took about a minute to try to recover and get some composure, and he still couldn't do it. Even though he beat Jamo in this aspect, and had Jamo spewing, it's a huge credit to Jamo that Roo had to work that hard to get the ball.

If only we had 2 Jammos in our backline.
But then our defenders wouldn't be good enough attackers.

Didn't you know... Jamison has poor disposal, doesn't take the game on, and makes poor decisions with the football.

Absolutely stellar games on Roo and Ryder - and has proven the Carlton BF morons that defending first will win you matches.

Great game on Riewoldt even if he did finish the game with a fair few marks he was able to force him up the ground rather than get many shots at goal. It would have been nice to chuck Bower on him to give Jamo a chop out at times but he still worked his arse off.

Jamo's contested marks against Riewoldt in the first half were just bloody outstanding, just seemed to keep working him over and taking them.

He's a heck of a player, just need to give some extra support now and he'll run riot.
