I think getting Voss is a pretty good move. I can't call it great yet as I'm not sure how much of Walsh's strategic stuff he replaces.
These are my thoughts as well.

On the surface, a great player, a leader of men, inspirational - but tactically and strategically I'm not convinced.

It seems to me that there is a bit of an overlap in terms of strengths between Hinkley and Voss, whereas Walsh was a completely different sort of cat and I felt complimented Ken really well.

A Port supporter is worried about Voss due to his coaching tenure at Brisbane not going well for him. From what I've seen from Voss on TV when before he was coach of the Lions I thought he was very clear with his explanations and illustrations. Why did he not do well as head coach? Is it a case of simply he is good at coaching a smaller focus group rather than a whole list and club OR were there other sound reasons for Voss's tenure as head coach not going so well? I'm interested to know what people think.

Lack of experience, lack of awareness of lack of experience, lack of awareness, believed his own press.

The main room for improvement is Vossy now being out of the backslap palace.

No ranga can be put in the handsome bubble. Even in an analogy.

With Vossy, Burgess and Wagner the connection with "The Recruit" is interesting. Just need Ben Dixon and the sports psychologist (Leigh Russell) to make the connection complete. I wonder if Burgess had any input here?.

She was 'Manager – People and Culture' at Essendon Football Club at one time...

Ben Dixon seems like a twat TBH.

Maybe he did.

I don't know if I'd ascribe full responsibility for such a decision to Voss only given the board and CEO approved it. If there were conflict of interest concerns that got past that governance process then I'd be looking at deficiencies in the board and the CEO.
I agree with that, but a shitload of dodgy shit happened on Vossy watch.

How about Rischitelli & Bradshaw. Plenty of ex-Brians on and off field shitcanned Vossy as coach.

Yeah, but there's always two sides to every story and discontent amongst ex-players might mean something, or it might not. On a list of 40+ players, one management style will not work with all of them and you'll always have some personality issues.

It's clear you have far greater passion for your concern than I do for my optimism, but I'm happy to let it play out. I think it will be a good appointment and I am hopeful of this because I assume the decision makers at the club behind the appointment have made it using sound judgement. They may not have of course, which will be a failing, but they've got enough credits in the bank over the last 2 years for me to back their judgement.

I'm pleased but cautious.

Voss doesn't appear to be a 'tactical genius' or 'midfield mastermind'.

Ken loves Hart "The greatest person I've met in footy" and Hart must think very highly of Voss. I'll back his/their judgement.

Voss has been sold his spot at Alberton 'off the plan.' He hasn't set foot inside Allan Scott Power HQ yet.
KT revealed this to Dwayne Russell & Co. on 3AW.
I was impressed a few hours ago when I first heard of the appointment (understatement) and I'm even more impressed now.

One of the greatest modern day midfielders with 5 years senior AFL coaching experience. KT's nailed it again!

Vossy's been linked to so many clubs over the past year, including Collingwood with their never ending treasure chest, that he would choose to move interstate and come here is a massive vote of confidence in the Port Adelaide football club and everyone involved.

I dare say this should now make sporting headlines nationwide.

Voss has a great sense of humour - quick wit. Will get om well with Buddha
.
I look forward to Baz Currtin and him entertaining the crowd in their Talking Footy chats.

Ken calls Shaun Hart the greatest person he has met in footy. Hart was the one who went after Voss. He is director of coaching so I guess finding assistant coaches fits his job description. More than prepared fo give Voss the benefit of the doubt at this stage.

Will be interesting to see if the title midfield manager means anything WRT the Magpies, the Academy side and kids in the under age academies.

I wonder if McCartney or anyone else is still in the mix. Buddha probably is in the mix for the Suns and Bulldogs jobs.

people are forgetting voss coached Brisbane lions..and look they still haven't improved (no offence brissy)

he can focus on one job now and that's our midfield, he won't have to handle all the stress that Kenny has to deal with so I think he'll do a good job.

They will next year though. Beams, Rockliff, Hanley, Rich, Redden, Christensen, Zorko, Mayes, Aish, Taylor. Boy oh boy wowee. Just need to find some key forwards and they're set.
