Re: Mid Gippy 2011

I really think u have no idea on how footy clubs run.

Boolarra been slowly progressing well the last 3 years under Tony G since he was appointed Senior Coach down there. Tony G recruited very very well every year and managed to hold onto every player he has bought in. This year the Demons managed to snare some young Morwell kids to add to the mix and a Boolarra kid in Matty Dyer (Played Gippy Power) who grew up and played all his junior footy at Boolarra who has been living away the last few years. Gun Gun Footballer !!!! Added to this some of their young home grown talent are fit and firing unlike last season in Cleaver and Buglesi.

We talking about a town that has about 400 people in it trying to compete with towns like Traf with 2500+

U snipe and put down Boolarras efforts on and off the field. When in reality u have NFI on what has transpired over the last 3 seasons and for that matter seasons before that.

P.S If Boolarra were still trying to recruit players in the last 2 weeks leading up to the deadline. Thats called SMART football management not silly stupid spending like ur implying.

Number 1 Ticket holder? or President?

Re: Mid Gippy 2011

There's upside for Boolara than the East at the mo i'd say. Was interesting to see Rob Shelton pull the boots on for Box Lecchino in the Morwell maggoo's on the queens birthday, but is still playing for the East?

I'd say number 1 ticket holder..

And recruiting 40 year old has beens from other clubs mid way through the season says alot about the loyalty of the player: if boolara can't snag a flag this year no doubt this rock star will have his clearance in before the final siren..

And the loyalty of the club: oh shit this bloke has a good footy resume let's pay him a shit load and drop someone who has been training since December for him..

That's great footy management

Absolutely spot on!!!!!

how can people just crawl out from under their rocks and assume to know everything about another footy club just because they dont like something thats happened?
and thats not just limited to this case, its a disgrace the amount of people who get on here to whinge about clubs they dont know anything about.

yellowandblack your obviously morwells number 1 ticket holder or president.

Interesting u think that u peanut,
Far from correct...

I'm just another avid watcher of mid gippsland football saddened by the way clubs waste all their money on recruits, talk themselves up to a point where even the towns folk think there a chance only to stumble in September and be left with nothing...

Seriously did u not learn anything from yarragon

Re: Mid Gippy 2011

Any truth the rumour that boolara has just signed jason macfarlane?

If so, wheres the loyalty? plays 7 games at Morwell this year realizes they have no hope of playing finals so jumps ship..

I wonder what happens if Boolara cant quite snag a flag this year, he will jump ship again.. leaving boolara with a pretty big hole in their pocket

And Mirboo North Recruiting Berchy at the half way point of the year..

feel sorry for the guys getting dropped for these blokes that decide mid season that a team is worth playing for..
He played today, he must be after some coin as he also went from Yinnar to Imps for cricket last season.

Re: Mid Gippy 2011

it would seem mirboo north and traf are the only teams to be consistently making finals each year, amazing what promoting the juniors does for a country footy club..

boolara pick up 15 new players and are suddenly in contention for finals after years at the bottom, pretty obvious which teams are paying money,

but look where it got yarragon and morwell east, a few years near the top now sitting back where they belong at the bottom of the ladder with empty bank accounts

Boolarra haven't paid money for close to a decade, so they'd have a bit built up.

Matty didn't play Power, he may have played some practice matches but he played 3rds for Boolarra every week. I think he won the league B&F in back to back years, while also playing seniors a couple of hours later most weeks. He now lives in Geelong and dominated at St Marys for over 5 years, obviously a better player now, after having played at a much higher standard in Geelong.

Voicy (Michael Cleaver) also won numerous junior accolades, but seems to have suffered with injuries and below par form over the last couple of years. Hasn't been in the best once this season.

Re: Mid Gippy 2011

You would have to say this weeks game between Yarragon and the Hillmen is crucial to Hill End's chances in particular, a loss would put them 2 and half games out of the 5 and end their chances of finals footy. I honestly think the bottom 2 spots in the 5 are almost irrelevant anyway as it's looking like a three horse race at this point of the season.

So it looks like the hillmen are gone. dont agree with the three horse race newb and yall north are good enough on there day to beat those sides

Re: Mid Gippy 2011

On their day, yes, but in September you have to have 4 of those days to win the flag from 4th/5th spot.
of course but i do remember newborough coming from 4th or 5th to win the flag and beat traf who were undefeated for the whole season not sure what year but speaking to players from the top three teams and they do see yall north and newb as threats

Re: Mid Gippy 2011

Mirboo North were missing 10 players from their best side last week, can't read too much into last weeks result.

Re: Mid Gippy 2011

Mirboo North were well below there best. Key players out and a couple below 100% fitness. Lots of players missing including, Holland, Busuttil, Bence, Gardener, Nash, Stoops, Gunn, Wilson, etc etc. Don't read too much into one match! Even so, Newborough deserved to win on the day.

Why were they all missing?

So from the week ends results is it fair to assume Mirboo Nth had 10 players in and Newborough had 10 players out.???

Re: Mid Gippy 2011

Nah Tomm. There is no need to be like that.

Dunno bout Mirboo, but Newborough just werent good enough. I wasnt there, but spoke to the coach and basically we were simply outplayed by Traf. There is some serious work to do for the Dogs to contend with Traf.

Not having a bench after the 10 minute mark of the 2nd quarter probably didnt help the cause as we have been rotating the midfielders heavily, but the reality is that, whilst we fancied our chances in the heavy conditions, we just werent good enough.

Already have sights set on the 3 recruits for next year that may help turn this around. A ruckman would also be nice as we are killing Blythman. But he is doing a mighty job for a half back/forward flanker.

We'll continue on and hopefully the group will see a little finals action. It will be a good reward for their efforts this year, right from November.

7 INS last week from the team that got spanked by Newbourgh
3 Still on the sidelines at Mirboo North.

Re: Mid Gippy 2011

I've noticed Mirboo Nth 3rd's forfeited to Yarragon two weeks ago and this week beaten comfortably by the Hillmen who I know had 3 of their better 3rd's playing their first senior games on the weekend, only two losses on the board before the Yarragon game with a chance to leapfrog them to 2nd possie? Just wondering if Mirboo have lost players for some reason or maybe it's just me over analysing things?
