Ive never seen him take a game by the scruff, hes 28 now and yet weve never seen him really do damage, well now hes got another year to prove me wrong after the past 10 that hes had!!

When Tex is on he can play. Don't think will see him in the midfield. I think Mick will play him in a high half forward role. He might be one of the 3/4 forwards we need to kick 25-30goals and gives us some options in the forward half.

I hope your right...

He lead the competition in rebounding 50's (before getting injured), he's also shown that he can kick 50+ goals.
Averaged 23 disposals, 5 marks, 2 tackles, whilst carrying a knee injury throughout the year.
Very quick & versatile.
One of the best players on the team.
Would you like carrazos stats when he was running our mid? Possessions dont count for everything, just ask Dane Swan

Judd clearances is were Juddy kills it. So inside/outside
Murphy can play inside but we want him on the outside.
Gibbs is massive now and showed he can play inside but his to good with ball in hand. Inside/outside
Thomas looks like he could be headed into our midfield. Tough and a great ball carrier outside/ Inside
Everitt is a great tall run with player and has a great set shot on goal. Utility/tagger
Cripps plays the inside midfielder role beauitfully at VFL level hopefully can step it up to AFL. Inside
Bell starting to use his bigger body can run all day kicking improving we want him inside.
Carrazzo showed last year on Selwood he can still do a very important job. Inside/tagger
Curnow is an elite runner can shut his man down needs to improve disposal outside tagger
Whiley played the inside midfielder role very well in the NEAFL. Inside
Yarran this is the year they let him loose in the middle or at least on a wing. Adds real pace. Outside
BB will add real pace through the middle may get a chance early. Hopefully he kills it. Outside
Simmo will get a run through the middle more often. Now we have other options down back. Outside
Graham in his 3rd yr should be ready wins inside footy but can run with the footy too. Inside
Menzel has all the tools to play in the middle adds class and X factor. HFF/ winger

I think this group will play the most significant part in our midfield in 2015. I think that list has some great ball carriers but we really need someone to step up as that inside clearence beast so that Judd Murph Gibbs and Thomas can do less of that and more outside play making.
Be interested to see who the #1 stopper ends up being. I think Everitt did some great run with roles last year and he can hit the scoreboard which is great when playing that kind of role.
Couldn't resist adding Menz to the list. If they let him and Yazz loose in the middle this year it could really be an ace up our sleeve for 2015.

A strong midfield that works both ways can hide a multitude of sins in a team. I believe we are getting close to a perfect mix of players that can either match the oppositions strengths or exploit their weaknesses. All this assumes the players we have live up to expectations and remain injury free.

Not convinced but certainly hopeful.

WE have been through this over and over Moe B. You are right, best you don't get started.

Hey! I still believe I could've been something special out of the goal square if I was much taller, could kick and had some athleticism.
You and me both

Walker will be playing forward. No point discussing him in a thread about our midfield.

Menzel should move from the FP to HF where he can become more involved in the play.

Murphy needs to play outside of the stoppages more either up forward or on the wing.

Due to our surplus of players who can play HB we should be looking to push Docherty into the midfield. Good kicking ability, footy smarts, speed and doesn't shy away from the tough stuff.

Thomas should really be hoping to take a spot on the wing if his athleticism is up to standard. Our worst games came about when teams simply took advantage of our poor spread and kicking ability.

Hopefully Graham has the footy smarts to become a factor at the clearances since we need another quality small midfielder who can extract the footy when Murphy is out.

Cripps/Whiley/Bell will likely be competing for the same spot unless Gibbs or Judd is injured. Cripps looked raw at senior level, Whiley's only played a few cameo roles as a tagger on the likes of Pendlebury while Bell lacks consistency.

Personally I'd expect Menzel, Docherty and Thomas to make the most impact if they can pump out a good preseason. Getting more then half a season from Kreuzer and Judd would also be a god send.

I'd be looking to keep him there and throw the likes of Yarran, Walker, etc. elsewhere. One thing I've noticed watching the replays over and over is that Docherty's contested marking is a real feature. Docherty is exactly where we need him down back, doing much the same job as Scotland did for years.

Yarran's not fit enough for the midfield and Walker simply doesn't have the physicality to play in the midfield imho.

I certainly wouldn't complain if Docherty stayed down back though.

I think Judd, Murphy, Gibbs and Curnow will be our main players in the middle. We have struggled in the past when others have gone in.

Everitt will spend some time in there. Bell is more a high half forward or plus one, his hands are too sloppy and not good enough off the ground to be under the ruckmen but gives plenty coming in off the square and getting forward for a goal. Graham will be pushing hard as an onballer as will Cripps. We need a few of our part timers to really impact here and not cause fadeouts as has been the case in the past. This means Thomas, Docherty, Menzel will hopefully improve this part of their game, these guys all seemed underdone last year. Carrazzo will go alright if he stays fit otherwise he may be finished, having he and Curnow in the side makes us a bit too toothless when attacking. DVR and Boekhorst are chances to find their way into the center at times. Walker may spend a little time in the middle.

Speed skill and ball winning ability is going to be important for us. Always felt we lacked a big ball accumulator in our center. Just have to see what happens.

The only thing I'm feeling in regards to Cripps and Graham is that they wont likely play all their game time on the ball and need to spend time in other positions and they will have to impact here, like the forward line. They will if they are good enough.

Given there are approximately 25 goals per game, that would give you 26 occasions to get first hands on the ball through centre bounces efforts.

What no bounces at the begining of Q2,3&4?

I don't know what to expect but I'd like to see some inside work from Whiley, Cripps and even a game or two into Bradley Walsh.

We've had midfield class for awhile but wasted it into too many round pegs in square holes (Judd/Murphy on the bottow of a pack).

We've done OK at roving taps and chasing loose balls for first possessions but I don't recall too many handball releases from a shut down pack to an outside runner.

He doesn't mind a drink, the Doc.......
Was starting to get a bad reputation, had to change his name. Not sure he has changed his habits though......

Is that not damaging enough?

As other people have previously stated, when he's up and going, easily in our top 5 players.
