Channel 9's new game show Millon Dollar Drop had it's 1st recordings at Central City Studios at Docklands.

It is a 1 hour show due to start on Channel 9 in the next few weeks.

Eddie McGuire is the host.

I thought it was pretty good. The time between the things waiting to drop dragged on a bit though and that lady annoyed me for whatever reason. Thought the questions weren't that hard either.

I didn't mind it but the questions were way too easy - they should have made the questions harder as they went. The Julian Assange question was an example.

8 questions an hour - 2 every 10 minutes basically. The drop was going on too long for the ones they were certain on. At least Eddie was largely unseen on it. I think the success of the show will be based on the 'couples' they select - the woman last night annoyed me, but if they have annoying players, it will be a turnoff.

Overall, not bad. Better than some of the previous game shows.
 
I watched about five minutes after On the Couch. Awful, awful, awful television. Such cheap television, using dramatic, over the top pauses made it extremely painful to watch.

Questions were utter crap too. Talk about pandering to the lowest common denominator. A question about the Hilton twins. Seriously?

Will last one month. Everyone tunes in to suss it out first week, major drop off second week, no recovery. Unless you're so dull that you cant work out that 8 questions in one hour means you're sitting around watching two people sweat and a bunch of ads for 45 minutes.

Is it bad of me to hope people lose all of their money? I was cheering for the drop all night long because the stupid girl was annoying the hell outta me!!

The money was all geared towards their "dream" wedding and all that crap. Then she is saying before the drop, over and over again "Whatever will be will be baby!!" Clutching onto each other with paced breathing and intense stares, it became quite comedic. That was until the point where I realised that they were going to win $180,000 thanks to some tabloid-lovers dream question.

It got depressing and I turned it over before I could witness their elation. :confused:
 
I was hoping for the drop too. Blondie was really annoying. Rumour on Whirlpool was that in casting they were looking for budding actors who will show their emotion.

Also read that one couple blows their million by the third question.

You should have been at the taping, saw 2 episodes being done and it took at least 5 hours , so there was some heavy editting, Mondays ep was not one i saw.

I like the concept of the contestants actually 'having' the money and then seeing if they can last 8 questions with it, rather than working their way up and never going for the top prize, playing it safe

It would be more interesting if the questions were slightly challenging.
 
Serious question. Why would you have gone? It isnt like Deal or No Deal where the contestant comes from the audience so would you go? Morbid curiousity?

The concept itself is great, the execution was shocking plus the absolute hideous contestant that everyone who watched wanted to lose yet she walks away with basically the same amount of money she wanted, oh yeah not rigged at all....

Questions were insanely easy and they didnt have any variety

Also had to laugh at their thinking on the million people question, oh yeah Geelong and a few regional cities have a Million people in them... :D
 
Painfully slow show. I recorded it and managed to watch all the questions and answers in about 15 minutes. Too much BS holding hands and looking in each others eyes "I love you babe" blah blah.
