Caramut finally got over Panmure on Friday night after a slow start.

With all these games I am not totally sure of how strong each line-up was, but I did see a half of the Rams game and it was hard to gauge much from that game played in windy warm conditions. The Rams were missing a few due to a wedding etc.......but they did have some good patches.

Hey Noodles, I do rate the Demons as a competitive team, but unfortunately each year a couple of teams are always a bit better.

Gee, I'll have to get the run down from my sources. Bloods, the Demons aren't far away but you are probably right. It is always hard to go past taty but personally I want to see some other teams have a crack. Maybe Penshurst will have a go this season, a bit like last years runner up.

Heard some strong whispers Burmeister wasn't playing this year? Can anyone shed some light on this? Terry Keilar will be a massive loss for the Pumas, provides great leadership for their young side...

think u r forgetting moy/will there tugger, the Pumas will be tough competition.. but your top four looks spot on... rovers will also be a dark horse

Get excited lads footy kicks of in a fortnight, friday night football at the tatyoon football ground its been a long wait but the mdfl season is finally going to start....taty vs glen under lights could be a upset for the hawks with so many departures and with glen recruiting well over the offseason will make a interesting game...what is everyones thoughts on playing night footy?who do u think will win the 4 points in this game?.....

Demons update.

Every player who wanted a run got a run against woorndoo mortlake including most of the seconds in a 5 quarter game. Different players in different positions a lot of testing and trialling.

One of the Ballarat players looks very good and impressed but I dont know which one. Early days, but if a couple of recruits can provide something the demons will be in the hunt as they havent lost much at all in the players department.

Whats the go with Tatyoon's recruiting? Not many In's but plenty of blokes hanging up the boots. The passengers out there for the last few years might be found out this year if they are as light on as everyone is saying!! Are they going to be able to field a 2's team friday night?

Good point zedi..havent heard anything about them not fielding teams but might happen but id dought it...on the other hand i think bolac are strugling to get a twos side anyone back these words up?

Lets see what everyones opinion is about round 1. I will get the ball rolling.

Taty vs Dunkeld - Dunkeld seem to have had a good off season recruiting well and getting a good practise match win under their belt but i dont believe they can knock off last years premiers on the own soil. Taty by 13 points.

SMW Rovers vs Hawksdale - Havent heard much from either side this year. Rovers by 1 point.

Penshurst vs Worndoo - Penshurst seem to be one of if not the best side on paper going into this season while woorndoo havent seemed to mak any big inroads for season 09. Penshurst by 24 goals.

Caramut vs Lissy/Derri - Match of the round for me. Both teams will be vying to get into the top 5 this year and this game should be closely contested. With the inclusion of some young blood liss/derri may just get over the line. Liss/Derri by 7 points.

Lake Bolac vs Moyston - Moyston should have bolac all tied up in this match. Bolac may just find themselves holding up the ladder with little or no steps forward from last season. Moyston by 28 goals.

I think you will find that Hawk-Mac will be better than most reckon. They will still have a dozen GF players and have just picked up 4 to 5 decent players...........and thats 12 more GF players than most teams can boast.

Plus they are young with plenty of natural improvement.

Penshurst might give the Pumas A run for top spot after Rd 1 too!

And for anyone selling Taty short, good luck to you too!

Looking forward to see how the concept of night footy goes off in the game between Taty and the Rams this Friday night... Hopefully the league gets behind the game and we see a competitive match!!

Tatyoon have kept their cards pretty close to their chest this pre-season, how are they shaping up? They will be pleased that Rich Tucker is travelling home from Geelong to play, and he will again be a key part of the Hawks' line-up. The Rams seem to have recruited well, however you would think Taty would still be favourites in this match... Any thoughts?

Even tho i have picked the rams,tatyoon have still got the mental edge on this game,but in saying that the goons pre-season hasint been that big they will be unfit and not be able to run the game out...i have heard there is some young lads down at the rams that will be fit and rareing to go if they hit the scoreboard early will make for a great game

By the way if anyone is looking for a spare $120 cash, I have just been told the RAMS are looking for a person to do the Reserves umpiring job for tonight.

They cannot use their regulars because of work and the different circumstances of a Friday night apparently.

Send me a private message if you are interested or know anyone wanting a few dollars. They are prepared to pay over and above normal $$$$ (120) on the night up front.

Any thoughts on results from round 1?
Penshurst and Glen-Dunkeld look the goods early on.
A supposedly fit Lismore-Derri were ran off their feet by Caramut.
Do Taty have many to come back into their side?
