i here that both Ewing boys didn't play in the Glen/Dunkeld intra club and my inside man said there might have been a signature at melville oval last night......whats going on THEBLOODS85???
I just checked transfer list and yes a clearance is in for a S. Ewing to Imperials.
Gave a guarantee to the club that he was playing with the Rams three weeks ago (to more than one person).....shows the quality of person you deal with sometimes!
Will be lucky to play a whole season.....as I have said before, lazy and unfit and prone to soft tissue injuries now!
And typically has developed the attitude of a Dunkeld person who so desperately wanted their footy club back four years ago.....only to leave and play elsewhere!

It sounds as though there is some real resentment from the Glenthompson end there Bloods85 ? I have heard that there is a lack of input from supporters at the Dunkeld end, but who has left to play elsewhere other than Ewing ? Darroch is the only other one on the transfer list and from what you said earlier people at the Glen didnt want him anyway ?

Tell us what you really think Bloods85 ! Clearly there is some issues at the club currently and one is the lack of support from the Dunkeld end. But I was under the impression that a significant reason for several of the departures from the club was the coach.....

maybe it is the coach that some are not happy with......but that is no reason to just up and leave.
i have played under coaches that i have not 'respected' or 'agreed' with, but have never left the club because of it!

The club is bigger than any individual will ever be.

i would have to agree with dunkeld here BLOODS85. i have heard from past players and why they left....Jumbo!!!!....If you want more Dunkeld input then have a balanced committee that is willing to take a risk to move forward and sourse a new coach with fresh ideas. Dunkeld people are not allowed a voice out there i here BLOOODS85.......

For fcuk sake mate.....get with it!

I dont know who you are and dont really care, but too make an assessment from 'outside' on heresay without knowing the whole mechanics of the club sounds very Dunkeldish and typical.

Every year an annual general meeting is held with all positions declared vacant.....and how many Dunkeld hands go up for election........stuff all!

To say have a 'balanced committee' and that Dunkeld people dont get a say is so ridiculous it is funny!

I agree that it may be time to look outside for a coach.....I have stated that in previous posts.....but if you are saying players have left because of Jumbo, well sobeit.........if I cant bat I'm not playing, what an attitude!

Christ we had an ex-Imps player out here in 1999 who was in my time the worst person ever in PR respects, held grudges and had the social skills of a muted rat......but we as a club had to stay strong because we made the decision to appoint him.....Life goes on!

Half a dozen Dunkeld peolple have been great in the merger, on the committee, working on gameday etc......but shit plenty do nothing or next to, but are quick to criticise things!

And don't get me wrong there are some Glen people in that catergory too!

But dont condemn the people who go on the committee and try and make a difference.....at least they have the club at heart!

To have a 'balanced committee' in your words, was more or less there at the start of the merger, but eventually the Dunkeld contingent gradually dropped off, so why is that Glenthompson peoples fault.

Maybe that is why they never went into recess and Dunkeld did!

My biggest wish is for the Rams collectively on and off the field to get there shit together and be around forever, not just for today's players and supporters but for all the generations to come!

at least we can agree that it is time to look outside the club for a coach because it is well over due BLOODS85. it sounds like your the man to do that bc you have passion for the Rams not just Glen or not Dunkeld.

i hope the Rams are around for along time to come, question is will the MDFL be?

I have a huge query on the MDFL'S viability in it's present structure.

Already Rovers are suggesting a move to the Lexton league would be more advantageous to them recruiting wise, while Lismore Derri have been hinting a move the last couple of years to that league as well.

Hawkesdale/Mac are known to have looked at Warrnambool & DFL.

To me it may be logical that the league is split three ways if it ever comes to that.......with Ararat, Warrnambool & Hamilton being the 'general' geographical owners of teams in their vacinity.

i.e. Rams, Penshurst to the SWFL......Hawk/Mac, Caramut & Woor/Mort to WDFL......and Taty, Rovers, Moy/Will, Lis/Derr & WLB to the LPFL.

That at least gives you a bit more leverage around a major centre recruiting wise maybe......whatever way the numbers are dwindling in the bush and I also wonder whether restructuring the levels may be another approach.........ie drop reserves altogether and increase numbers on the interchange bench in the seniors or drop back to 16 on the field in the seniors (no wings) and same for the reserves.

Could the MDFL retain its standing but in a revamped structure with teams only from that area....i.e. WLB, Rovers, Tay, Moy/Will, Lis/Derr maybe Woor/mort and say poach Ararat Eagles and Skipton into the comp to have an eight team league.......I dont know really.....any thoughts!

The juniors (U16's) are a separate problem with clubs suffering at different times mainly due the sheer fact of less families in the bush meaning less populating.

Apparently three to four clubs are going to really struggle to field ressies, so more than likely issues will be raised as the year unfolds.

By the way I will speak the way I see it....not on hearsay.....and I am not prejudice to any individual and only have the clubs interest at heart.....afterall I have four boys that i wish to play at a club that I happily represented over 400 times on the field with nothing but fantastic times and memories!
Cheers!:thumbsu:

I am sorry Bloods85 but from your posts the Rams are going to struggle but from what i read in the clearances there are a lot more ins than outs for the team. How do the new recruits compare to the losses? And are you trying to play down the Rams chances this year?

The Rams will struggle big time to make the finals...............fifth would be their only hope........but maybe Moy/Will will take that spot behind Taty, Hawk/Mac, Car & Lis/Derr IMO.

They have lost quality experienced players and picked up some reasonable youngsters, but also a lot of twos players.

There are players who have retired or stopped playing for various reasons that will not show up on the transfer list obviously.

i personally dont think moyston will make the 5 as dont seem anywhere ahead of last year... i also thought that caramut were down a few good players from last yr, i that rite? bolac could and i think will make it ahead of moyston, with lismore to scrape in if everything goes their way...

as for breaking up the league i think its inevitable, with rovers looking to go in the very near future if word is rite... i dont see moyston keen on the lpfl, its a long way from them as their even further away than the eagles... but who says this will fix the lack of players situation? its not as though people r just going 2 wake up and say well there in a different league, ive never played before but i might start now... player numbers are down everywhere...

and if the league does want to stay 2getha reserves must be kept cos with out the numbers teams cant survive purely financially... 16 in the 1st would push people away from the league more so thats not an option, nd with the u/16s well everyone goes thorough the ups nd downs, but maybe its the age group that is the problem? without a major town the league lacks a drawing power...

the vcfl needs to seriously look at the whole structure of country footy because the way leagues cross over is rediculous...

Is there an opportunity to tie the MDFL with a major league and create a relegation system between the 2? It would possibly expose the clubs to a wider audience.

I have played in the Wimmera & Horsham leagues, who are a monty for this idea, before playing the last 2 years in the MDFL. And in my humble opinion, and that of my wife and kids, we found that the MDFL has been the best of the lot for creating a great family friendly environment, and alo some pretty good footy, at times.

That may also have had something to do with the club I'v been playing for. I have never known such a committed group of people, all working together to ensure that they put together not only the best footy side they can, but also the best oval (keep an eye out this year I hear) and facilities. All of this has created a great atmosphere, not only of success, but one that makes you want to be apart of. Yes i'm sure success comes in waves, and some times it dries up, but you have to all be working together in the same dirrection to ensure the club survives the less successfull times.

It would be a great shame to see the MDFL fall over. So here's hoping the clubs in the league can pull together to ensure its survival.

Unfortunately I have since moved away from the district, but am really looking forward to getting back during the year to enjoy some more of the great hospitality that has been extended to my family and I over the last 2 years.

Interesting to read your post and thoughts.

Just a couple of questions:
1. How can you say that Moyston/Willaura 'dont seem anywhere ahead of last year'....when they have not played a game in anger yet! Strange comment.....you may be right, but compared to most of their challengers for a spot in the lower part of the five they have at least picked up some recruits, as well as only losing four thus far. Some nine new players have signed up with six or seven other clearances pending.....so at the very least there depth will be strengthened. They were on the cusp of the finals last season and with the Rams & Penshurst struggling for quality numbers they have as good as chance as any right now!
2. Where else would Moyston/Willaura play if the league split?
3. Why would 16 on the field plus interchange push people away? The unders & reserves virtually do it now anyway....why not the seniors?
4. How does changing the age for Under 16's improve things when there is a lack of kids full-stop?

I certainly agree that everything should be done to keep reserves footy going as you stated.

Caramut have lost three decent senior players, but have picked a few of handy recruits from WDFL...and considering they were top three last year, they should be there-abouts again......albeit probably a fair way behind Tayoon & Hawkesdale-Mac.

A source close to WLB informed me last week that they had about 33 players at that time to pick two teams from......may struggle I think!

Anyway Cheers and look forward to more thoughts!:thumbsu:

with moyston i dont see where a whole lot of improvement is going to come from... there best are getting older but their kids are ok... they just seem to lack some class more than anything... they could easily prove me wrong thou, wilf is doing a fantastic job there... but your right they prob will make the 5...

they eould be in a tough spot if the league split because they are rite between lpfl and hdfl... with stawell and great western close by i think the hdfl may be the better option for them...

as for the u/16s i think the better players are told to stay away because the big nobs rekon its a down grade on their ability and decreases their chance at playing rebels etc... which is crap cos have been many play in previous few yrs (ewing, cameron, clingan, otto, mcdougall, linke just to name a few)... with the main age group seemingly being u/17s around kids are incouraged to play in this... it just comes down to ppl dont like the travel, which hurts our league...

good to hear your going well hawk nd i no all the guys are missing havin u around and would love to have u back...

sad to hear bolac is struggling so badly, they built such a good team around their youngerguys but all have left... see they cant even keep their boys straight out of u/16s..

Heard that Hawk/Mac new recruit (full forward) broke his leg in prac match? confirmation anyone? Or just rubbish talk?

No comment - All questions from here on in are to be directed to my lawyer lol

Nah seriously unsure at this stage, im guessing you may have heard i wasnt

jus a whole heap of no ideas is wat ive heard mate... wuld be a fair tragedy if u didnt... sure the new coaches wuld b happy 2 see u

Good to see Rich Tucker sign on the dotted line with Taty tonight, will slot nicely into centre half back...

fantastic news to hear bout tucker... with tex walker returning last week tatys team is starting to look very good again... dont be surprised to see tucker spend time in the backline though, saw him play at ballarat a few times last year and was very very good in defence...

Does anyone know if big Ash Bryant is pulling on the boots for taty this year, they would be just about unstoppable if that big unit lined up at CHF, i heard he was back in the area so i was just wondering?

Mate i don't know if he is playing, but if he is back the rest of the comp better look out, Ash Bryant is one of the mininera football leagues most prodigious talents, and if he does play i would pencil taty in for another flag.

Ash Bryant is going to play about mid season i think. Good to see tucker sign will be good to watch this year. So with chris milne returning through the year taty look to be stronger than last year.

Ararat would have to be filthy that Tucker has signed with Tatyoon after he promised them he was having a year off but if he was going to play anywhere he would play for them! On more than one occasion aswell! I know Fish wasn't at all impressed last night! Just not the right thing to do, why not be up front and honest instead of now being labled a liar!

Very strong opinion you have there Can Kick A Goal, At the end of the day he was a taty boy before joining Ararat i would have thought he was always going to end up back at Tatyoon to play senior football at some stage in his career, Might be his only oppertunity this year whilst teaching in Ararat.....
