The Vikings continue their trend of making training camp available to their fans with a total of 16 team practices open to the public.

The 2019 Training Camp is the second to be held at the team's new training facility at their Egan facility (Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center) - I'm sure the openness of training camp has a lot to do with the development of the area and the Viking's plan to make the area a "must see" destination for all fans.

Never easy to come back at the Cheese house and I'm definately still on the side of Kirk, in that he has copped too much blame previously, but some of those throws late in the game, two in particular were absolute shite.

That Int to a double covered Diggs in the EZ hurt the most though 1st and 10 in the RZ and you throw that? That drive was going so well eating up some clock.
Then what should have also been an Int to Theilen who had basically given up on the ruote due to being so well covered.

I wish I had the same confidence in Cousins that you do. Why throw into quadruple coverage? Surely that means someone else is wide open.

The Vikings managed 7 yards per play compared to 4.9 yards per play for the Packers, but somehow Cousins managed to convert that dominance into a loss.

Confidence isn't the word I would use, but I do feel that he copped too much blame last year working with that line.

Today though, he was a large percentage of the loss and he rightfully owned it.

Clearly weren't ready to go and they jumped out, after HT adjustments it was much better but these mistakes took it away.

In the hot seat to finish on the bottom of the NFCN at the moment unless there is a serious upward turn in the coming weeks and I don't see it right now.
The offence is a hot mess at the moment and Cousins isn't helping himself by hanging onto the ball way too long.

I'll admit that everyone expected the Vikings to be 2-2 at this stage of the season, but the way the Vikings have played away from home this year, albeit against two Divisional rivals, has been horrible.

A loss at the Giants next week would be season defining.....

If we had a better air game we'd be 4-0 right now.

I'm off the Cousins train as of this week. I tried to stay on.

I can't see where the improvement will come from but Cousins at QB with Riley at Blindside is a disaster in 2019

I honestly don't think the problem is with the OL. I'll admit the OL has shown no improvement in pass blocking from last year but the big problem is Cousins' inability to pass downfield. Even when the score was 16-0 against the Bears, Cousins still continually checked down to the running backs at the line of scrimmage instead of pushing the ball downfield to (often wide open) Thielen and Diggs.

I'm tempted to check out of the Vikings until they draft another QB.

Food for thought, do you think there could be any chance of a Texans -Browns Osweiler style trade as just a pure salary dump to someone like Miami to wash your hands of Cousins and his contract?

Probably not yet, but if the season nose dives from here and you want to move on as soon as possible...perhaps?

Or is the contract simply too large to move without giving up the world?

I'm sure the Vikings would move on if they could, but I'm pretty sure the Cousins Contract has a no trade clause.

The biggest problem with Cousins is that he is good enough to get the wins that the team expects to get (apart from maybe a meltdown game each year) and therefore the Vikings are probably going to go 7-9 or 8-8 this year which won't be bad enough to get the team into position to take a highly rated QB in the draft.

I've said it before but the team should have taken a risk on Teddy Bridgewater instead of picking up Cousins. In the 2018 draft, the year Cousins was signed and Teddy allowed to walk in free agency, they could have taken Lamar Jackson (in the first round, at 30) as a precaution.

BTW - the size of the Cousins contract is not the issue, it's the no trade clause. The Vikings could make an arrangement with a trade partner to pay part of his salary - lets say $11 million of the $31 million he's due next year.

A no trade clause sucks.

You're right, the D will keep you in 7-9 to 9-7 range. But that doesn't mean you still can't draft QB tho. Cousins might have an o trade clause but he doesn't have no bench clause. You need to find some sort of solution, can't keep putting up with the current state of affairs.

Just sucks that you have no cap flexibility whatsoever. 😕

Stefon Diggs wants out, and so do a bunch of other Vikings players.

There was a piece on it on NFL Total Access, where Steve Smith discussed that Mike Zimmer could well be the problem, that he had the team set to be an NFL Juggernaut at one point, but the whole thing is imploding, players and coaches want out, that Zimmer is a very unpersonable person.

I would not describe Zimmer as unpersonable. The fact is that defensive players will take less money to be on a Zimmer coached team than going to a different team (Anthony Barr is just the most recent example of this) is testament to the level of commitment that the players have to Zimmer.

The problem with Zimmer is his relationship with the offence, and in particular the offensive coordinator. The Vikings are now on their 4th OC since Zimmer took over as head coach, that's 4 OCs in 6 years (Norv Turner, Pat Shurmur, John DeFilippo and now Kevin Stefanski). To take the pressure off Stefanski, the Vikings hired Gary Kubiak as an offensive advisor, but essentially Kubiak's role is to take the heat off Stefanski from Zimmer.

The revolving door of OCs at the Vikings has put the offence in a difficult position because they have to learn a new offensive scheme just about every year.

Add to this an inability of Cousins to perform in big games (national games, divisional games, game against teams with a winning record) and there is obvious tension within the offence. Diggs is probably the most volatile person on the offence but his hissy fit last week is likely more related to frustration than a huge desire to get out of Minnesota. The Vikings are far from being basket case team, and have talent all over the field.

It has been pointed out by various Minnesota beat writers this week that the team dynamic is vastly different to the dynamic that existed in 2017. IMO what the Vikings really need this season is a couple of team defining wins and then I think everything will be back on track.

One week at a time though - winning against the Eagles, at home, could just be the start of the process.

thats certainly a bad thing....four OCs in six years.

im just going off what Steve Smith reported/discussed on NFLN where he said zimmer was unpersonable

and that's why I don't follow any of the national reporters. The local, beat reporters are the ones that are closer to the real issues.

Once an issue gets to the point where it gets national attention, facts become something that gets in the way of a good story....
