Where was Big Wil from half time until halfway through the final quarter? He seemed to be of the ground for the whole time, anyone know why?

It would either be fitness or Eade wanting to give Skipper a decent run.

BTW bubbles, do we really need two Minson treads? :p

I think Rocket wanted to give Skipper a go, but in my opinion he doesn't have as much presence in the ruck as Minsooon! Anyone agree?
Agreed but I think people are putting down Skipper's display in the ruck. For a bloke that was suppose to be dropped to Werribee 2nds he was pretty good. It shows we have a coach who knows what he is talking about.
Skipper cut off a Brisbane moves out of defence in the last.
Just missed some easy goals but not alone there.

I think Minson came back at the right moment. Minson doesn't have the pertol to play 4 quarters yet.

Given Minson's lack of experience at this level I'd be very conscious of how much we use him. If he gets pushed too hard, he might end up developing OP or just burning out by season's end. I doubt Darcy will be back in the ruck any time soon after his return, so we need Will to stay fit. It's worth using a lesser player from time to time to preserve him a bit.

Its a valid point. I believe the magpies over used Josh Fraser when he was a rookie, they appear to be paying the price at the moment. And he has been a regular on the injury list over the years.

Minson has agreat presence when he is on the ground and it was evident during that third quarter when the Lions started to get on top. Skipper battled hard in the middle but you could sense the momentum turning.....still I think Skipper did pretty well and impressively worked himself into the game the longer it went on. He definitely took a little while to pick up the tempo, but I thought it started to come together a bit for him in the last quarter. He will be better for the run and a decent amount of game time.

He struggles to get through 20mins let alone 4 quarters. As long as he keeps improving in that area i can deal with that.

Also i echo the sentiment of others about not giving him more work than he can handle at this stage. We have the next 12-14 years to think about.

We have to use Will and also develop other ruck options. He hasn't the fitness to ruck for extended periods as yet. A burst player at the moment.
