Weird situation.

Clark will look very bad if he takes the money and goes to Melbourne since he says he is leaving to be closer to family, but Brisbane are well within their rights to not want Clark to go to Fremantle since Fremantle seem to think that they don't have to pay at the very least a first rounder. I think West Coast are in a good position to get this deal done. West Coast's first pick and a decent player would be the most likely trade.

if he takes the Demon offer he would be be moving to the worlds most livable city.

And who could blame him

We were also happy to make what they deemed a reasonable offer. We were also willing to offer a player in part trade (freeing salary cap room) and also willing to give away our first selection. Freo have so far done none of these things

16 versus 23. We have also apparently offered Duffield or Mayne and they didn't like. They also wanted Lycett and your first pick as a part of the deal. If you're willing to pay that be my guest.

Thats the contract Clark has on the table. Even you know that?

What club is Koby Stevens joining btw?

I'm a bit lost here. Are you saying that we are offering Mitch Clark $600K per season to play in the city he wants to, and Melbourne are offering him $500K per season to play in a city he doesn't want to? And that Mitch is thinking about the Melbourne offer?

Dees are offering 800k a season + time in the ruck and your offering him 600k playing out of position at CHF. Thats the difference

I guess he may become a bit turned off how little the Freo are working to get a deal done, and thus could start to entertain offers. Im sure the Lions would give him their blessing to go the the demons if it means we can have a real good crack at getting tippett

Clearly what west coast offered wasn't enough and from what i've heard they have made no further moves for him. That tells me West Coast have no real desire to get him. Kerr stating that the eagles were being reasonable and willing to give what they want was just scare tactics.

I think the MFC deal is front loaded, so 800k in first year but still 2M over 4 as reported.

Dont know how Freo are offer 600K per year thats crazy stuff, and dont know where it came from?

I doubt we are more than a smoke screen to get Fremantle, to put a reasonable offer on the table tbh

yeah I think a 500k quote is another herald sun blunder...the demons deal is described by Clarks manager as "outstanding" and "Someone clark is going to have to think about". Pretty obvious it has blitz the freo over...and it is also a 4 year deal which equals a long term cash cow

there is no way Melbourne have offered him $800k over 4 years. There's only a handful of players in the comp worth that much and Mitch Clark is certainly not one of them

Heard Rob Kerr (Lions list manager) on Trade Week Radio today. He said that Freo had not made a formal offer for Clarke. Conversations & meetings had occurred; Freo had indicated their interest; but no formal offer of any kind.

Which he said he was quite surprised about. This was as of 11am (Melbourne time). I haven't heard anything since.

Looks like Freo were probably playing it slow thinking they were the only real bidder. I hope the Demons get him they have much more to offer the Lions :p

This post probably fits better in the context of the Brisbane board, but it's their board and they can say what they want. I'll criticise from afar.

There is an awful lot of disdain for Fremantle, who are trying to get the best deal for themselves. No disdain for Brisbane, who are trying to get the best deal for themselves. In fact, Brisbane are looking at offers from non-WA clubs, when Mitch Clark explicitly requested a trade to WA. Did Freo field offers from non-Victorian clubs for Tarrant, did Adelaide field offers from non-Victorian clubs for Gunston?

I agree, the "go-home" business is bloody annoying and you want to try to limit your losses, but this anti-Freo sanctimonious rubbish is completely lacking in perspective.

A lot of disdain on the Freo board too for Brisbane, who are only trying to get the best deal for themselves.

Some Freo supporters seem genuinely pissed off that Rob Kerr has the temerity to try and get fair compensation for his employer.
