What is the difference in the bowling averages?
Just a mere 6 runs... so yeah. not up there with akram.
Could make the argument about bigger bats, smaller grounds etc. that help explain the differential. That also brings their averages closer however.
Could also argue about the quality of players each had to bowl to. All the variables.
Fair enough.
That said, he'd be getting close to the top few left arm fast bowlers of all time. The only ones off the top of my head who I'd say are definitely better are Akram and Davidson.

Bruce Reid was pretty good too.

Did a bit of research - Sobers and Khan are up there as well.
except imran khan was a right arm bowler a blood good one. arguably the best of the great paki quicks.
Zaheer Khan
Why bring Clarke into this?Johnson needs to bowl at the stumps more. In his second spell he was as threatening as a sledge from the Queen.
Would be epic if Anderson wasn't so damn tall
Healy dissecting his action earlier - I hate it.
You aren't a bowler, and, even if you were - shut up.
He's a wrecking ball at the moment, change nothing!!
I think we are now seeing in MJ what Lillee saw all those years ago.
Well have you seen his fingers? Probably can't even hold a scalpel.I wouldn't have Healy dissecting anything. He can't even talk about wicket keeping.

Didn't see the swing on that delivery that rattled right through Cook then?I don't
We saw it a few years ago against South Africa.
What we are seeing now is extreme pace taking wickets. Extreme pace is hard to maintain series after series, pitch after pitch.
When Mitch bowled against South Africa he had the outswinger going (inswinger to right handers).
When he had that he was damn near unplayable.
If Mitch gets that swing back - he'll be fantastic and not relying on poor batsmanship gifting him wickets.
At present though - his pace has the poms rattled. Against a SA team boasting Amla, Kallis, ABDV et al - he wouldn't have the same impact IMO
