Its happened, again.

Why do the selectors keep going back to this guy?

20 tests as a batting all rounder have proven he is shit.

Does he hold nudes of Mark Waugh? Or has Glenn Maxwell hooked up with a selectors daughter?

Realistically its because he is the only fast bowling allrounder whose bowling is up to the standards they want.

But he's proven to be a long way from being up to it at test level with the bat so if they actually want him to possibly develop into a test class cricketer one day they will be best off leaving him to play for WA in shield and Surrey in county.

This is infuriating and im a fan of mitch.

What he needs is time away from the lime light perfecting his game (especially his batting) for WA and consistently performing well for a period of time.
The selectors are seriously ****ing him up by selecting him when he isn't even ready.

Yeah I just don't understand their obsession with him.

He's a competent seamer but there's no way he's a Test #6. He's more of a lower-order slogger type.

Do they hope he'll morph into 2005-era Flintoff at some point?

Starc and Cummins have probably almost breached their bowling quota for the month based on the current position of Jupiter.

a) The selectors need to give him a full domestic season at least. He’s taken great strides already in my eyes.

b) People need to get off his back. He’s still one of our best prospects and is in no way a ‘hack’, as his detractors would have you believe.

Admittedly a 26 year old "prospect"

I rate both Mitch and Shaun to different degrees, but it is hard to think of many other players who have failed, been dropped, and been brought back into the fold as often as they have. Khawaja maybe.

There's a long line of batsmen and all-rounders in domestic cricket who'd give their front teeth for the sheer volume of opportunities the Marshes have had.

I'd say that Shaun Marsh only got dropped from the test team three times.

After the series against India in 2012.
His one off match in Nottingham in 2015 where he was a bit of a scapegoat in my opinion.
And after the series against India this year.

Actually if I channel my inner eddiesmith is this a CA plot to prevent the Scorchers winning the Big Bash?

Maxwells scored close to 400 runs in last 3 shield innings and has a much better record.

They're clearly not looking for another finger spinner.
So the other options would be Henriques, Stoinis and Cartwright. Marsh is in better batting form than any of them and is undeniably a better bowler.

Then again I'd suggest that if we don't have a fast bowling allrounder up to it then we should just deal with it and not pick one.
Win in Perth and we're 3-0 up in a 5 test series and we can rest whoever we want if need be.

The only thing I’ll say is do we need a 2nd spinner in Perth though?

I would have picked Maxwell instead of Handscomb personally as a bat.
