I have just updated Windows 98 to XP, yet have kept the same dial up modem, 56k. I really want to use Myspace and Youtube, so can you use a dial up modem to access them? Or do you have to have broadband?
If not, can someone please tell this novice/net virgin about how to get faster net access? What modem speeds are there?
Thanks in advance!

youtube will be difficult because of the large size of most of the videos, it'll take ages to download.

Myspace will also take a long time to load unless you dont allow music to be downloaded.

I much prefer 98se.

I still had dial up until just recently and what I will say is:
1) Myspace works alright, make take a little while to load some pages depending on how much crap is on it. Is certainly bearable
2) Dont go near youtube unless you have 3 days to waste in order to see a 30 second film,

I'm using a 300MHz comp and win98 is easier to tweak plus I know what I'm doing with it, unlike XP etc. Most of the 'features' on newer OS's I don't use anyway.
Win98se combined with Opera does the job.

Anything that you want to watch or download off a site is pretty useless with dial up. Get your self the cheaper broadband. You might not get heaps of download limit but its better than dial up.
