The Beatles suck ass
Lennon's songs such as Norweigan Wood, Help, Strawberry Fields Forever, Across the universe, I Am The Walrus , Come Together, and I'm only Sleeping are great songs.

McCartney's Beatles songs such as Helter Skelter, Penny Lane, Blackbird and Oh Darling are great songs.

I don't know it would change all the time. But I listen to these a lot.

Yeasayer - All Hour Cymbals
Muse - The Resistance
Aurora - Infections of a different kind of human
The Smile - Wall of Eyes
Sigur Ros - Valtari
Hania Rani - Home
The Smile - A Light for Attracting Attention
Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool
Bjork - Post
Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes
Bjork is good but can't say I've heard, or ever want to hear, the others.

Big Star

It's not my kind of music but everyone is different. I love movies from the 70s, but I don't listen to bands from back then. Though there are a few good composers from that time.

I really like the melody of Smells like Teen Spirit. If it was in a nicer sounding song, it would be quite beautiful.
The melody uses the Phyrgian scale which is super rare in popular music and Kurt had no clue what that even is, he just decided it sounded good and made it work.
