come one down.....Shane Watson. please, please, please never select him again. his bowling is very ordinary, his batting is ok at best. we have persisted with him for 6+ years, he keeps injuring himself, yet we keep bringing him back which is probably what will happen when he comes back after this injury. we continue to persist with him because we want to have our very own 'Andrew Flintoff'. Flintoff is a superstar, and Watson will never get close to him.

This one. He gets huge wraps but never really produces:thumbsdown: Should be dropped from the Backyard Bugs XI.

first class is all well and good...but

Batting
Test average 20.25, top score 31
ODD Average 35.64 which is alright.

This is where it gets funny.
Bowling
Test Average 61.5
ODD Average 33.62

Didn't watch much of the last world cup did you? How crap were his batting figures there? Post them up.

How many Tests has he played where he has been 100%?

Really tiring of all these incredibly ignorant people, stats aren't everything:rolleyes:

His batting average in ODIs is boosted by all those not outs you know. But his batting is more suited to the longer form of the game. When he actually gets on the park he could become a pretty valuable Test batsman.

the great thing about cricket is stats are great, but if your going to base it on two test matches then its ridicolous...

by that thought trail about 80% of test cricketers should never get a third test.

While I agree it is annoying that he seems to be able to stroll back in to the side, I think he could be a damn fine TOP (not bottom that is not his go even if he did play some handy lower order hitting performances in the WC) order batsmen. He just has to realise this and stop bowling. Not that good at it and gets injured.

I hang a bit of shit on Robot, but in reality i know he is a gun.

Sublime batting skills. would make our side on batting alone.

& his FC bowling stats are very very good. especially good over the last few years (better than Johnsons i believe) & he can bowl 90mph if he has full fitness. He was bowling awsome & with pace prior too & at the champions trophy untill these bullshiit injurys.

an allrounder that averages basically 50 with the bat & 29 with the ball & bowls at 90mph is not something that comes along every day.

Robot is a rare rare tallent.

:thumbsu:i'm with you Trizzy , one paced cricketer with bat and ball . i watched him bat against Flintoff in a one dayer last year, and i havent seen an aussie batsmen look that frightened since the Bevan days . Symonds has triple the skill and triple the heart, so we dont need this guy to be our allrounder

You know nothing:thumbsu:

Watson is so much more suited as a Test batsmen then Symonds will ever be, we don't need an all rounder.
Watson could secure a spot on batting alone, Symonds couldn't.
Watson has a much better FC average then Clarke

:thumbsu:i believe it is you who knows nothing , how many test hundreds does Watson have to his name ? who gives a flying **** how high his 1st class average is compared to Clarke , Symonds is 10 times the player Watson is and ever will be:thumbsu:

Oh dear:rolleyes:
Youi're an idiot, he has hardly even played in the test team and when he does hasn't had the chance to make a big score

His batting is enough to get him into both teams, his bowling is average, but has there ever been a great bowler who hasnt played more than 2 games straight?

Watson is a shit load of skill, however no one will see it until he gets his injuries in order.

Watson, Katich for mine.

The Indian Cricket team.

I'm gonna throw up a controversial one.... Brett Lee, yeah he just had a good game.... but we all know what other teams are like down here.

When the more 'reliable' bowlers are bowling well Lee cashes in big time, yes he's good, but he's not the out and out best bowler in our team for mine. When the other bowlers are struggling Lee can lose his cool and bowl really expensive overs.
