I wouldn't exactly call him underrated, because he's currently the critic's darling, but the recognition Elliot Carter receives is certainly far less than he deserves.

I have to confess Uncle Steve that I haven't listened to anything Matt Johnson has done since Mind Bomb(shame on me I know).
It was just that I LOVED the first two LPs and thought that Mind Bomb was shirt.
Mind you he wouldn't be the first artist to release a crappy third LP.:D

Mind Bomb was actually his fourth album - or his fifth if you want to count "Pornography of Despair", which was yanked after release because he didn't like it!

Me, I can't get into "Hanky Panky" - the only obvious lowlight in his entire career, IMO.
 
Magpira is spot on. Neil Finn is one of the best songwriters going around and does not get a lot of recognition. However, his fans would prefer that he is out of the spotlight.
