I like that one based on Richard Ramirez. The Night Stalker. I get that confused with the Night Crawler which is also a goody. But yeah the Night Stalker is a good movie I reckon Lou Diamond Phillips is Grade-A in that one. **** in reality though that Ramirez was evil to the core way to crazy and sinister. Lucky they caught that crazy ass mofo but as for the movie I like it.

Which one's do you like based on true stories?

Zodiac
Zodiac has been cranking on Fox non stop lately. Good movie. Gyllenhall is good at playing a weirdo. Just watched Night Crawler he's weird as ****.

BDC is a good one. Cruel ending. Shameful.

Zero Dark Thirty is good. Chastain is HAF.

American Sniper now that's a great movie. BC is a gun. Pardon the pun. Love that guy on the dark side too. The sniper that was in the Olympics. One ruthless ass mofo.

Spotlight is one of the best I’ve seen.
Zero dark thirty is up there.
Danger close is really good.
Catch Me If You Can.
Apollo 13
Goodfellas
Donny Brasco
Untouchables is awesome though not very factual.
Goodfellas and Donnie Brasco. Man they are some of the All Time Greats.

In the name of the father
DDL at his best supported by Mr Postlethwaite as a heartbreaking father
The injustices broken down to a personal level

Life is beautiful
A fictional account of a father who saved his son through humour and magic. A sweeping score with a devastating ending

The boy with the striped pajamas
A fictional account that both book and novel bother me in the fantasy of the conclusion that imo undermines the loss of real life children to the gas chambers

Pearl Harbour
So many inaccuracies it should be fiction. The ending…a redemption that added nothing to the actual event the title is meant to tackle

They shall not grow old
Undoubtedly the greatest documentary movie of WW1 that brings to life the horrors with colour and sound. The last 15 minutes of how veterans who returned home were treated is shocking compared to what we do today.

All quiet on the Western Front
Any variation is epic for its time with the latest Netflix version brilliant

1917
So many gripping scenes; from the shot at the back of lines as they walk through the hundred yards of trenches. The shocking scene of the Pilot scuffling and fatal shot.

Dr Zhivago
I watched this on tv in the late 80’s knowing nothing about the context and stayed up close to midnight to watch the devastating ending. Sweeping cinematography matched with a score for the ages. A timeless favourite

Dances with Wolves
Marlon Brando in his latter years believed America needed a film on the native Americans and a short time later this appeared. Since criticised for playing off the Sioux v Pawnee, it was epic for its time. If you can catch the longer version it adds more weight to the gravity of the problems facing the Plains indigenous.

Other notables

The Killing Fields
The chant of Jimmy Blacksmith
Gallipoli
Fringe dwellers
American Gangster
Goodfellas
Casino

Schapelle was ****ing terrible. That movie could have been a top class flick. It was worse than second rate. Putrid stuff.

Cooper gained about 20kgs for the role, he had to eat about 6000 calories per day.

Brilliant movie, worthy of a rewatch as its been a while.

Captain Phillips was good
