Oh man as someone who is an all time Superman simp, The Batman nailed everything. One of my favorite movies - let alone comic book movies. (It's annoying me not having time at the moment to get through Penguin, episodes I've watched are amazing).

For the runtime, Gunn says it's under 2 and half (in response to not being 3 hours)

Gunn has a good record and he's good at managing big cast sizes - so like you said - until we see the final product. Hard to judge.

Gotta say - I haven't seen IMAX in YEARS, but this might be the one to make the trek back out for.

It’s been a while for imax for me as well. I saw Man Of Steel opening day in imax, and whilst the film remains highly flawed and they just didn’t do it justice, that opening scenes I vividly remember in imax. The Krypton sequence, particularly Jor-El riding H’Raka, was ****ing glorious.

They had one that just finished and despite its low budget it was pretty good.

It has been quite underrated for sometime I find. The finale was excellent overall and the final ten minutes really does hit you in the feels. Won’t spoil it incase you haven’t seen it, that was brilliantly executed.

Massive Superman fan, so high hopes but have been burnt before

Hate the chest logo they have gone with

Sums me up, I want it to be good..... but another thing that has my expectations low i that I have not enjoyed ANY of Jmes Gunn's previous work

So this could be a roller coaster. Funny thing is with yesterdays teaser of the teaser trailer I felt what a lot of internet nerds were saying (looked like a tv show rather than big budget movie etc). But the visuals I saw in the actual teaser trailer looked fine.

Yeah ive seen it great finale.

Not a Superman fan, but the trailer looks good to me. The actor is a good choice, has the look and was sound in Pearl.

I hope this iteration is good, but I'm yet to like ANYTHING James Gunn has done, so my expectations are at rock bottom!

Thought his Suicide Squad was terrible
Can't abide by these. Thought his Suicide Squad was awesome and a huge upgrade on the first attempt.

Bit of a hot take on the trailer, I kinda wish they made a TV series for this instead of a ~2hr movie.

A decent 10-12 episode TV season for a few seasons would have enabled a lot more story telling.

I do think the era of epic big budget blockbusters is dying off. People seem to want character development now and to see more of the characters. Which means more and more movies struggle to make their money back which leaves hollywood no choice but to cash grab proven stories. This could come to an end unless they switch to making blockbuster series instead.

Im a superman tragic and have enjoyed every iteration of live action Superman in both movie and tv series. This one looks no different. Corenswet looks the part and looks tough. The suit hasnt sold me but the superman makes the suit so the only way it wouldnt work is through poor writing and direction. The Critical Drinker said it was a safe boring release, i disagree. There are a lot of risks with this story line especially with Krypto. If he butchers Krypto and his part in the movie alone, people wont buy in. People want realism even in a super hero world. So if anything is cartoonish its DOA. A safe world for Gunn would have been for Corenswet to have an origin movie first and build the world from scratch. Basically Gunn has just gone full 'this is the world', so there is a lot riding on it.

I am looking forward to it and cant wait.

The suit looks average but this trailer was great. The decision to start with a bloody superman set the tone that this isn't going to be a happy, clappy Reeves version everyone thought. The colour palette to me is perfect, and I am someone who loved MOS and the heavy contrast look. Still another 6 months to go so will be interesting how the look develops.

My prediction, there is a 2nd suit that will be revealed mid way through, probably after the Krypton scene.

MOS for me was the best version of Superman I enjoyed. Probably because its effectively combining the best aspects of the original Christopher Reeves Superman I and II into one movie.

I would be shocked if there is a 2nd suit, although with that said a few trailer previews have stated that his suit in the opening seconds of the trailer is clearly damaged, so it will be interesting if it "magically" repairs itself or he dons another.

Whats to be curious about unless you havent seen them? The origin story of Superman I and the antagonists of Superman II.

Highly recommend you watch Superman and Superman II. :thumbsu:

I’ve seen them countless times. Hence my curiosity. Yes there’s comparison of Zod, the Phantom Zone etc.

However there aren’t too many other similarities in terms of the depiction of Superman. Cavill was fantastic however by design and instruction of Goyer and Snyder, there’s little differentiation between his Clark and Superman. They had the same similar frown on their face. Reeve did this masterfully, the change in his demeanour, stance, voice, gait, body language etc.

For me, those aspects will always remain the best parts of those films. Reeve embodied the kindness, warmth and hope of the character that hasn’t really been matched since.

Not mentioned on here, but for those fans of Christopher Reeve's Superman, his son will make a cameo in this movie.

Smallville probably the GOAT when it comes to cameo pr0n in the Superman universe. Mind you The Flash movie is right up there too.

He looks so much his father too, yes when I read about that a few months ago I thought that’s a lovely touch. The recent Super/Man documentary also heavily features his children, that was a very heavy and uplifting watch.

All the other hero suits are designed the same, I think they are all Stagg industry designs and they will revolt at there end and have their own designs.
