I mean, movies with high RT critic and audience scores, like The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, Pulp Fiction, Donnie Darko, Schindler's List etc.

Personally for me, I didn't like The Usual Suspects, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Fast Five, Fight Club and Blade Runner. To be fair, I've only seen TUS and BR once and so I may try watching them again to see if I get into them or not. Fight Club I found a little pretentious, 2001 I can appreciate its technical brilliance and influence but I don't get a lot of those subtle, artsy films and I was bored shitless with its extremely drawn out scenes. F5 I added because that was when the critics jumped on board and I still hated that franchise.
 
Babel was a big one for me. Critically acclaimed at the time but I found it pretentious and a little dull.

The Force Awakens was at the time lauded but thankfully the tide is turning. It's not awful - it's just a rehash and a grab for the low hanging fruit by Disney.

Didn't mind Skyfall but never understood why it was so loved and yet Casino Royale, which in my view is one of the very best Bond films, has been relatively forgotten.

Haven't seen Babel or Skyfall or any of the new Bond films.

I liked TFA, but it was too predictable and formulaic, although I didn't think Rey would beat Kylo, nor do I think she should have. I also think that stormtrooper that laid the smack down on Finn should've been replaced with Phasma. Get rid of Starkiller base, have more politics. Although, the scenario of Rey winning would be okay for me if Kylo beats her in VIII or they flip sides and set Rey up as a villain, which I doubt they'll do.

Hate is a strong word... I can't really think of any that I hate but everyone else loves... Maybe the Transformers movies (excluding the animate 1986 one, and the first Bay one was decent too). I'd say Force Awakens too but I think I talk with enough people who don't like it so that's probably not 'Everyone loves' material.

I've never gone that much on Billy Madison as well I spose. It's definitely not an equal to Happy Gilmore.

A Clockwork Orange is another one I didn't like. It's like as if I don't understand film well enough to appreciate Kubrick's movies. I loved The Shining and the first half of Full Metal Jacket, though. I saw a bit of Eyes Wide Shut on SBS one night and what I saw was intiteresting.

As for Billy Madison, that isn't one that's liked by both critics and audiences, though. The critics can't stand most of Adam Sandler's work.

Yeah but I guess they would never be expected to in the first place. As for audiences, Sandler had a good run with them in the 90s and Madison is considered the peak of his work. Not to me.

The Revenant, for mine.

Cinematography, score, acting: top notch. The plot though, was a bit of a snorefest. I haven't rewatched since seeing it at the cinema, but I remember thinking it went on for about an hour too long.

Yeah, loved him in the 90s, and BM was one of my favourites, along with Waterboy, Happy Gilmore, and Anger Management, although that was later on.

Yeah, saw it at the cinema. Totally understand why it was nominated for best picture, loved the beginning and the end, but felt it just dragged in the middle. Could've been 20-30 minutes shorter.

A quick scroll through the IMDb top ratings to pick out the overrated ones (in my humble opinion of course):

Pulp Fiction - not awful but just kind of pointless. Some scenes are good, a lot are just unengaging. Don't understand the love at all.

Fight Club - overrated, pretentious and loved by yuppies everywhere.

Return of the King - an overblown CGI fest with too many endings. Fellowship was the best of the three. Come at me.

Kill Bill Vol 1 and 2 - just found them boring. I really can't explain any further. Not even sure why I put myself through Vol 2 after the first.
 
Don't agree with the popular opinion that ROTK had too many endings. I think when the ship sailed off that would've been the perfect time to end it, but there was only one more ending after that, so no biggie for me.

Critic and audience scores for Azkaban and beyond are pretty high, plus I think at least two of them made over a billion at the box office.

The more I watch the more I come around to the endings. It was something I was critical of but yeah, they've grown on me.

"The Shining" - sucks balls, so ****ing slow.

"Titanic" - nothing needs to be said except epic waste of money.

"Blade Runner" - look I love sci/fi but this is sooo overrated. Really.

"Guardians of the Galaxy" - load of shit. Almost walked out 15 minutes in but the missus said no, go out and get me some more popcorn, cool down and come back in and we'll see if it improves.

someone further up the thread mentioned harry potter films and i have to agree! iv given a couple of them a fair chance but i cant seem to ever feel engrossed in the movies! Maybe im just more of a terminator guy!!!;)

My girlfriend loves them. I'd never even heard of it and she's read all the books.
Thinking I could give the movies a go if I ever get a free weekend, see what all the fuss is about.
 
Mentioned in another thread that I don't really have time for any of the Lord of the Rings films, Kill Bill Vol 1 was terrible and I usually like Tarantino films (Vol 2 was a bit better), and never really liked mob movies so films like Goodfellas don't do much for me.
