Loved the view from Level 1...normally sat up top at Subi...sat ground level for a few finals and thought the view wasn't great, but at the new stadium its incredible....the elevation makes such a big difference and the shorter ground...very happy with my seats. Got wet a little (depending on wind) (Row 16)...heard some stories of people in the $6000 seats up on level 3 getting wet....would be absolutely fuming.

Agree Quinz noticed that myself and as when I was on the escalator there almost was a series of falls due to a crowd build up at the end of the escalator and being not being able to clear the area and consequently having a consertina affect , a serious human pile up was only averted by pushing ...shunting actually .... people ahead out of the way.

Was in OH&S terminology a serious "near miss incident".

Maybe this is a simple Darwinian solution to our aging members list?

Damn some of those bastards are slow AF :)

I love the 2:40 game on a sunday. Yesterdays time slot was perfect for the game as it got to show off the lights and be the standalone fixture. Maybe not every week, but an Easter Sunday or WA day would be a great sunday Night game.
Yeah a couple of times a year would be ok. I would prefer Saturday night games to take advantage of the lights.
Can you imagine every single Eagles game being after 5pm on Sunday? That is what Hutchinson wants.

10 minutes or so if you get the express. Only two stops to Canning Highway.

Any spots actually available on the train by the time it reaches Canning Bridge though? That would be my concern. Going back into the city allows you to get on the train. If a full train leaves CBD you're relying on a few getting off at Canning Bridge to fit on - and noone would get off at CB as they would've taken the express bus.

Will also help cut down the In The Wings waiting list.

(Provided those old fogies' families do the right thing and give up Grandad's membership after he's been horribly crushed, not selfishly pass it on to a grandchild or something)

As long as you don't mind standing, there was heaps of room when I got on at Eliz Quay - and would have still been room at Canning Bridge.

I think the real solution is to fold these Melbourne teams whose fans don't want to show up to watch their teams, even on a Sunday in a city that is supposedly the worlds most liveable.

There was f-all space when we got on at Canning Bridge. Literally no one got off and the platform was full of Eagle supporters waiting to get on. And the people who were already on the train started up the usual moan because they needed to squeeze in tighter...

Next time we'll either get a train to the city or one of the express buses to Elizabeth Quay..

I can't run. I waddle.

Can confirm full strength beers are sold. Very quiet in there. No lines for food or drinks.

Re the River Room, can you fill me in as I have access according to my ticket.
Where is it exactly, when is it open and is it open post game?

Not too sure of opening tones. I went middle of Q2 and half time. It' level 3 go up from the escalators near block 126. You'll see a sign. O have cat b access and got in no worries. If you want to buy full strength you either have to drink it in there or bring your empty plastic cup and pour it in as they serve bottles.

Selfish POV - but Sunday evening games will herald the end of my membership.

As it is getting home (4+ hour drive) after Sunday afternoon game gets a little tiring. The queue getting on the train post game on Sunday doesn't bode well for a quick get away by train. Be interesting to see how much the crowd thins, if at all, when the bridge is completed.

What was the view like at the back of level 5 on the wing? Literally right at the back. Had a choice of second tier just around from goals or that.

Pretty happy with ours, couldn't see everything down the other end but screens were good and can see a lot more than at Subi from the same spot

I am around 10 rows from the back. Was not looking forward to our seats. Was really happy at the game.

Our group of 10 all agreed that we watched the screens next to 0% of the time where are 10 rows back from the fence on the 50m arc at subi had us using them often. Not all 10 are sold on the elevation. But personally I loved it. Alas I have nothing else to compare it to at Optus stadium though.

First time at the stadium, my impressions.
Got there early and went to the Camfield for a couple of beers, plenty of room and pretty quick to get a beer(shits all over the Vic). Moved across to the stadium about 3 o clock, the queue for the pub was about 200 ms long, according to the security guy most of them had no hope of getting in.
No signage telling you where you are once you are through the gates and up the stairs onto the concourse, took us a while to get our bearings, only a one time thing I guess. Pegged our seats which are in one of the short sections between stairwells on the 5th level. As suspected a bit of galvanized rail between me and the forward pocket, didn't really notice it during the game but it is the first time in any stadium that I've had my view obstructed, slightly disappointing. But front row peering through the pool fence would piss me off more. On a more positive note, completely out of the weather, didn't even know it had been raining until quite a while after it started.
One advantage of being near the stairwell, there was a bar right at the foot of it. So barely 20 mtrs from my seat and empty both times I went for a beer.
Overall pretty good, our seats are on the wing so good overall viewing although I'd prefer to drop a level or two and be closer to the action even if overall view is more limited. See how we go, might request a change for next year.
The train trip home was a bit stop start and not the streamlined service we were led to expect, Freo line, first stop City West but we had a 5 min stop in Perth I guess due to congestion on the line, I assume they'll sort it out.
Half way through the third qtr the wife goes "it's a bit quite, not much atmosphere"
then Ryan, Nic and Lecras on the siren got the joint jumping, it will be intimidating for the opposition if and when the team gets rolling.
Happy days, footy's here again and the loss wasn't as bad as I feared.

What time did you get to the Camfield? Both times I’ve been to the stadium I thought I was there early enough to get in, but clearly not. The line was massive

Nice. They were also more expensive on the wing but I didn't like the idea of being at the back. Our seats are great but by the sounds of it either would be fantastic. I like the pocket ish because you can see down field how the sides are setting up as well

I got there ~12:45 and walked straight in. Was a decent crowd there already, managed to get a table of 6 right out the back. Inside was pretty full already. My folks rocked up at 2:40 and the line was huge so didn't bother coming in. So seems in line with what Seadog said.

That said food didn't take long to come out, don't get caught buying plastic cups of beer from the outside bars. Made that mistake once, then went inside for proper glass pints onwards.

This old girl will be passing my membership onto family in another 20 or so years when I have celebrated my 50th year of membership

My impressions -

I wasn't incredibly excited to be allocated seats behind the goals, but the second tier provides plenty of elevation and you can get a good read of the play, and see the structure set up.

The ground is noticeably shorter than Subi, and with it you can see the centre square set up without squinting.

steepness also helps with that.
