And it’s the snowflakes job to protect the perennially offended.

Grown men are threatening to boycott a pub and the AFL because their mascots are facing consequences.

Are they not perennially offended?

The fact that this is what you have found issue with here is bizarre to be honest. Not sure I’ll convince you of anything so might leave this one alone from this point

The word "epidemic" was right.

If one murder is more heinous than another, it doesn't mean the less bad murder wasn't murder.

Why anyone would feel the need to attack terminology which accurately reflects the current DV situation is interesting though.
because the terminology IS the issue. it's what defines how big an issue is or isn't. language matters. and the use of the term 'epidemic' regarding DV is a deliberate emotional use of language, making it out bigger than it is for propaganda purposes. yet we never hear for example how murder of children by parents is roughly 45/55 split. instead the exclusive focus is on female victims.

And how anyone could take exception to epidemic being used to describe how big an issue DV is in Australia is staggering. Not gonna botner with the whataboutism that follows. Your clear views on this topic tells me you're someone I want absolutely nothing to do with, so peace out.

I mean, they are the body in charge of the league, who else might issue sanctions?
No one.

I understand that it was not an AFL event. It was a private function for men who play together in a football team.

Ultimately, I will concede this point - the appropriateness of the AFL issued sanctions and fines entirely depends upon how this event was classified.

Was it actually a private event for a group of men who simply play together in a football team? (If yes, there is no room for AFL intervention).

Was it a Greater Western Sydney Giants Football Club event? (If yes, then perhaps leave it up to the club).

Or was it an Australian Football League event to be attended by people who play for the GWS Giants Football Club? (If yes, then perhaps yes indeed, the AFL has jurisdiction to impose their own standards of behaviour to the attendees at the event).

I am sure many adult people have engaged in consensual activities in the privacy of their own home, or at a private function elsewhere, that some people may find offensive, distasteful or otherwise inappropriate. Does that give anyone outside of those involved any right to officially reprimand the people involved in said behaviours?

I'm surprised they suspended the players. Not a good look. A lot of the players these days wouldn't have been born when 9-11 happened.
I wasn’t born when WW2 took place, but I sure as shit wouldn’t make a joke about the holocaust.

My biggest issue is that thr AFL want the kudos for the domestic violence stuff but continue to allow the public be bombarded by gambling ads. Gambling being a leading cause of domestic violence.

It is shitty to be moralised to by an organisation that doesn't live the message.

Bang on

will be interesting to see what the players association do. unless i've missed something the correct answer is nothing so far.

if this was a bigger club or not such an easy target in toby green et al you would think there would have been more support by now.

Apparently the players association pressured to get the initial fines and suspensions reduced

No, I think they may be genuinely concerned with the ongoing erosion of our freedoms in an ostensibly free society.
Maybe they can come up with a better use for their time than yearning for a time when humping a sex doll while dressed up as a man that was charged with rape was totally cool and normal.
