Murphy's report - what do we think?

I haven't seen the footage is it as bad as it seems ?

Also he is a fair player that has hardly ever been reported so wouldn't that warrant anything ?

He's gone - unfortunately the footage does not look good - the Hawthorn player has lost the ball, and copped an old fashioned shirt front. He went straight down and had blood coming from his nose.

Probably get 1-2 weeks, depending on his record.

The contact was high, but we used to see this every week in the 80s. It looked like the elbow was tucked in when he delivered the hip and shoulder and split the Hawthorn guy down the middle. I don't mind if these sort of things are just a free kick - but the AFL won't like it.

I don't think he has ever seen the tribunal

Surely its not as bad as what you make it out to be ?

The reason I argue is because I cant imagine him harming a fly its not the way he plays...:(

Don't know why you guys are suggesting he'll get 1-2 weeks, I will even be surprised if the case isn't dropped.

There was no intention to hurt Ellis - his face got in the way because he is 6 foot instead of 7 foot.

Thought it was a great shirtfront. Clearly no intention to hurt Ellis. But he got him high and he got him hard.

I fear it = 2 weeks. But am hopeful. Wouldn't be the first time the tribunal has surprised me.

I totally agree with you. It was a great shirtfront, but it will definately be ruled as high contact as he's got a blood nose. We keep hearing the head is sacrosanct, and the AFL want this out of the game (despite what we think). Pratt got 1 week for a slightly late spoil, just because there was high contact. He had no intention to get the footy - his sole intention was to deliver the shirtfront. Reported for rough conduct.

Reckon he'll get 2 weeks, but reduced to 1 with an early plea. The game has gone soft though.

He will probably get 1 week which is a shame. I thought it was a good solid bump, the elbow wasn't out and I'm sure Murphy wasn't going into it to knock him out.

Murphy has been reported and suspended before.

It was for another hip and shoulder.

If my memory serves me correctly it was against the Saints at the MCG in 2006. It was on the Great Southern Stand wing and he got a week.

I'm not sure if the points from 2006 carry over before.

It was soft, but I think he will go.

Was in the play.

Kept elbow down.

Was high.

Wasn't too hard a hit and had no momentum

Should take early plea.

Should have a good record.

All they have is that it was high. If it's weeks then just call it netball

Common sense should prevail in these circumstances. However it doesn't so I'm guessing 1 week. Murph is real important so it will be a massive blow.

Probably a week, but with an early week he'll surely get off. It was as soft as butter.

Ellis got a hospital handpass from his teammate and was off balance.

There was no malice, it was a good, old fashioned bump.

At least we're now starting to play some "unsociable" football as well.

Cleaned up his head, he'll get more than Burgoyne for sure.

You clown.

At the game the crowd consensus was barely even worthy of a free-kick...replay didn't look bad at all (on big screen...haven't seen it on tv yet.).

Maybe 1 if people are suggesting high contact, but definately in the play.
