Muse - Best band of the 00s

Muse is nowhere near sorry.

Opeth
Dillinger
Tom Waits.
Boris.

4 bands i randomly picked on shuffle on my media player after 5 hits (one was at the drive-in, not 00's)

But all 4 bands/singer show MUCH more talent in songwriting.

No one's gonna take me alive!@!#!%#
The time has come to make things right!@!@!
You and I must fight for our rights!#!#!
You and I must fight to survive!#!#!

I almost laughed at the concert when they were playing this rubbish song ...many an underprivileged fist could be seen pumping in the night air.

They're an OK band with some good songs...well versed live too with a very clean sound.

Best at nothing but.

No love for QOTSA?

Yep.

QOTSA>Radiohead (massive fan of both, though) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Daylight >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Muse>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Oasis.

Black Holes and Revelations was such a let down, their first three albums ranged from very good to excellent, but they've become very annoying and irritable.

I'd rather listen to (from this century) The Strokes, Kings of Leon, The Libertines, The White Stripes, Ryan Adams or Babyshambles any day of the week. Muse are terribly overrated.

Average band.
Radiohead >>> Daylight >>> More Daylight >>> Yes Even MORE Daylight >>> Coldplay >>> Oasis >>> More Daylight >>> Muse.

agree with radiohead 1st, though i think muse are slightly ahead of coldplay and then oasis, IMHO

Yes, Muse are shit.

No, Oasis have Radiohead covered.

nahhhh, radiohead has oasis covered i'm pretty sure :p

oasiss & radiohed r preatenders

they are what? If you are suggesting they are pretenders, in what way are radiohead pretenders?

Hey me and you suppor the same team?

so? hahahaha. "we support the same team, therefore we MUST have the same taste in music! Don't we "

arctic monkeys?

and also, i've heard very little of babyshambles, though I liked what I heard - particularly "F-ck Forever". Do you have any suggestions for me? Thanks in advance :thumbsu:

Never really been able to get into Arctic Monkeys, not sure why.

Regarding Babyshambles, a few suggestions are: Pipedown, Killamangiro, A'rebours, Up the Morning, Albion (all from "Down In Albion"), French Dog Blues and Baddie's Boogie (These 2 from "Shotter's Nation").

cheers will check em out :thumbsu:

As for the monkeys, got their album shortly after release and loved it from the start. Was at trax at 9am the day 'Favourite Worst Nightmare' first came in and loved that too! :D That means nothing in the context of your post, but oh well :p

Nothin' wrong with a bit of out of context rambling. I'll have to check out their newest album , give 'em another go.

Can the mods merge the two threads this individual has started. This band is definitely not worthy of TWO threads on the same subject.

All I can say is that Muse are the Queen of the new millennium. OK band that get more and more overrated as the years go on.

Muse are very much up there. If their best album closes out the 00's they may well be viewed at the greatest in the 00's.

Chili Peppers board
Thread just hit a low point

better bands of the 00's
animal collective
the fall of troy
godspeed you! black emperor

i could go on and on and on

Top effort, especially with godspeed, one of the most under-rated band around

Muse still going strong. Each album better than the last.

Their concert this year was ridiculously good, and i cant wait for more goodness from Bellamy. Pearl Jam may have been the best band of the 90s but its clear whos the best band of today!

If your not familiar with Muse just youtube muse and go thru and watch and listen to their genius!

Without a doubt one the best (if not the best) rock bands of the 00's in my opinion. For me with Muse it's not about talent or sales, but the songwriting. Muse are very consistent at writing classic songs.

At the moment I'd just put Mogwai and Cult of Luna above Muse. QOTSA are great too, I'm a big fan of Kyuss, so been following everything QOTSA have done, but they don't compare to Muse in writing consistently good songs (unfortunately).

With the Radiohead comparisons, I don't see it at all. Maybe a few moments over their career (or if you only consider vocals, and slower songs), but it's just as much as say Smashing Pumpkins, Queen, even Rammstein. Which Radiohead songs sound like Stockholm Syndrome, Citizen Erased, Hysteria, Bliss, Map of the Problematique, The Small Print, Assassin etc etc? Muse have a much more big epic European style sound with the pianos and heavier guitars in my opinion.
