which is why I just cream when they work together.

So appalled is quickly becoming one of my favourites.

Jay Z's first lines in songs are always awesome because it's always so 'him' if that makes sense, he arrives straight away with his distinct sound.

Interesting.

Feel bad saying it for some reason, but probably true.

Although Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint are probably as good as, if not better than my 2 favourite 'Ye albums (CD and MBDTF.) The rest of Jay's stuff isn't as good as the rest of Kanye's stuff though.

Black Album > everything by either of them not named Reasonable Doubt

As an artist there is no question. Kanye always has been better.

Jay Z as an emcee is good, and still has a better flow than Kanye, and obviously has a more length discography as a popular act (in fact one could argue he is still the better emcee in terms of technical rapping aspects), but as an overall artist there is no contest. Rhyming, song-writing (choruses and bridges), producing, video direction, the whole sha bang bang, Kanye doesn't just lead the hiphop genre, but is amongst the leaders of modern music.

King of the music board.

I wouldn't be surprised if MBDTF doesn't actually produce a worldwide #1 smash hit.

All of the songs seems to be at a pretty similar level, yet none stick out to me as commercial-sounding enough to generate such popularity for a worldwide smash single that crosses over from hiphop to mainstream.

Seems to me like an album where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

All of the Lights seems the biggest possibility for mine...possibly because of the presence of Rihanna. Probably won't become a "worldwide smash" though. Last part is definitely true.

Could realistically make a case for every song on the album being in my top 20 Kanye songs. That = seriously good album.

Yep that sums it up for me and imo this is why it is his best album as there is an underlying theme with the whole album compared to random hit songs.

If he doesn't win rap album of the year expect a taylor swift part 2, which he would have every right to do.

Never in history has there been an outspoken person that was/is universally liked (or at least not hated by a significant portion of the general public).

This.

I don't see why the hate for Kanye is so aggressive? I mean, great artists have always been douchebags, it's nothing new. So why do people feel the need to disregard Kanye as a performer and a producer because he's arrogant? Seems stupid to me...

Also PK I just realised I've quoted your last three posts, so I may have to stop before you sue (pacey style suing) for e-stalking.

I'l give a clue, it's because he's not "white". ;)

The most dominant culture in the world, mainstream english-speaking anglo "white society" (states, england etc...) has a tolerance for arrogant talented tools....as long as they're not "coloured".

The moment someone who doesn't fit that description displays signs of confidence/arrogance/what-have-you all hell breaks because it goes against their own subconscious hierarchical prejudices. I mean what reason does some black dude have to act so cocky?

That also so many paranoid tools in Australia are constantly denigrating hip hop claiming it is taking over Australian radio/media/etc.. when in reality rock (by mostly white artists) is still by far the most predominant genre played in this country.

Hard to disagree with any of this.

^Skip to Wayne's verse at 3:00. Done it? Good. I'd love to know if Wayne fans can actually understand what the **** he is saying. How this can be interpreted as rapping, let alone be considered 'good', results as some of the most dumbfounding shit I've ever heard. Words are literally being mumbled in a language that has never been thought of before.

The fact that Wayne fans consider this to be some amazing piece of work is why I can't respect their opinion. It really has me dumbfounded. It's like someone has purposely tried to rap as poorly as possible, and certain people have listened to so much bullshit that not only do they become tolerant to what is bullshit, but they actually grow to like it as a result. There are a lot of other bullshit rappers whose verses I think are shit, but at least the mind can comprehend formations of words coming out of that rapper's mouth.

Troll bait bitten, now for troll to address points raised in relation to verse in video.
