i think Hartlett will be pick 4 or 5 bombers or port.
I think Deboer is highly underated and a pick 8-10 has had a great carnival. I think suban is highly overrated and wont do well at AFL level he isnt quick or skillful by hearings. May have a good first few years but wont really improve too much after that. The best he could become is a R.Harvey type player if he has a big engine or tank.
funny that im his cousin and if im still correct he barracks for the saints.and if he ends up being the next harvs ny club that gets him will be extremly luckyyy

Fingers crossed.

Michael Hurley does not go interstate or to Essendon.

I've had my eye on this guy for a while and I'll be following him very closely when he gets picked up, love watching him go about it, I've called him and I really want to be able to like him as a player which I just won't be able to bring myself to if he's doning the red and black or pissed off over the border.

Best young defender I've ever seen at his current level, a pure FB/CHB who could make an immediete impact, just brings it all to the table as a KP backman. Genuine Top 5 talent, but one whom we might see slip because he's a defender.

Let's hope he goes into a scheme where he will recieve some first class development and early playing exposure.

Do you think hes capable of playing up forward too?

Do you think hes capable of playing up forward too?

Yeah he is no doubt, more than capable but that is not what he will be recruited for. Anyone who has seen him will vauge for the fact that although he has had his moments in attack, he is definetely a natural defender who has spent the vast majority of his time there and played his best football there without a doubt. He can go forward because he's got strength, size and reads the play exceptionally well. He capitalises when the balls in his area with his fantastic hands, good kicking and ability to know how a defender is going to try and beat him (like SOS could). Is a great contested player aerially. But he just doesn't look as natural or settled up there as he does on the last line. The fact he can go forward is a very handy feather in his cap and just adds to his stocks as a footballer, but if his fantastic defensive abilities are wasted I will be furious, because there is a drought like lack of genuinely talented defenders in this day and age and Hurley, believe me, is a diamond in the rough.

if hurley doesnt go interstate then you'd think essendon would surely pick him

It is killing me.

It is pretty much inevitable, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

He won't go Top 3 I don't think, so Melbourne is probably out.

And if Richmond moved below Essendon I doubt they'd take him because they've got Rance, Thursfield and Moore.

Thus it's pretty much Essendon or one of the interstate teams I hate the most after Adelaide: Freo, West Coast or Port.

Shit. :thumbsdown::(

Unless ofcourse he slipped to a late Top 10/early teens draft choice but that is very doubtful, especially now his stocks will be even further boosted after literally an MVP calibre Championship's.

Perhaps North could go to the shit from here on in and get a Top 5 pick. ;) I'd be happy with that.

The two most likely candidates for Hurley are Port Adelaide and Essendon.:p

I know.:( Like I said, maybe you blokes at North could just fall off the bandwagon a little from here on in and find yourself with a Top 5 pick. :D I'd be happy if you got him, plus you could REALLY use him. :thumbsu:

Yeh, I will be furious if Hurley is available and we choose McKernan instead. In saying that I think McKernan will be a very good player it's just that we are desperate for a solid full back as soon as possible and to overlook Hurley because of any sentimental motivations would be pretty painful.

Hurley trained with north for a week in the pre season this year under one of the afl/ais schemes.
I would love to see him go to north.
I'd love it even more to see him go to melbourne.
I'd almost take hurley with our first pick(but I know this won't happen unless we slide? up the ladder).(here's hoping)

Also in regards to the first pick, as a melbourne supporter I'm hoping that we take naitanui, he needs to learn how to play the game, because he looks like a newly born horse running around out on the field, however he is a marketers dream.
From what I've seen of watts, he moves a bit like franklin crossed with a fev, which is not something I'm really into, to me he just comes across as a bit of a showpony, out for himself, he moves great and has the skills but IMO his attitude and second efforts leave a bit to be desired.

I had the chance to play with Sam Blease. He is a star if he gets drafted where do you think he will get drafted to.

was immense today.. just about the quickest player in the draft.. hopefully st.kilda can pick him up with their second round pick (which about where i see Sam getting selected)

After yesterdays games you would have to put Tyrone Vickery & Aaron Cornelius top 10 ?

the top 5 will be Nat, Rich, Watts, Hartlett and Hurley (no order)

Yarran may get picked up by Freo or WCE because of Watts not wanting to come interstate.

Essendon to get either Hurley or Hartlett and they will both be very good for us. Hurley to play FB next year with Fletcher 3rd tall and Ryder CHB. Ryder to play on more the quicker agility forwards and Hurley to play on the power forwards eg: PAV and Brown. T.Pears to fill in for Flecther when he is injured and all of a sudden essendon could be building a premiership winning defence. Hurley, Ryder, T.Pears, C.Dempsey (HBF runner), Houli (HBF runner also shut down small forwards), J.Nash (kick in specialist who can give us drive and play on smalls or talls.

T.Pears - Hurley - J.Nash
Houli - Ryder - C.Dempsey (what do bombers fans think for the future. Myers also can go HBF giving Houli more midfield time)

DWD You also must get a foward to replace lloydy and lucas..but that backline looks great :thumbsu: Much like st kilda . Love the look of Vickery or Johnston *fingers crossed*

My revised predictions

The first round of the draft:

1. Natanui
2. Rich
3. Hartlett
4. Watts
5. Hurley
6. McKernan
7. Suban
8. Cornelius
9. Ziebell
10. Yarran
11. Robinson
12. Sidebottom
13. Vickery
14. Heyne
15. Swift
16. De Boer

I've gone with Rich & Hartlett over Watts & Hurley because they are guranteed stars. They are both midfielders, where as the other couple are KPP's. The scouts also said they look at ability over, needs. As a result, my top 5 should be preety spot on. What do we think about the other predictions?

essendons future side:

J.Nash (kick ins/can play smalls or talls) - Hurley (shut down Pav/Browns) - T.Pears (3rd tall)

Houli (run and neat disposal off hbf) - Ryder (take agillity forwards Richo/Riewoldt) - C.Dempsey (flare and speed P.Burgoyne like)

Winderlich (speed and flare goal kicking mid) - J.Watson (clearance machine) - D.Myers (can take Richo/Goodes/C.Corne type players and push back to switch with Houli)

Lovett (push middle and deep forward/ pace and goals) - Gumbleton (dominating CHF of future) - Monfries (lead up forward to allow Gumby to play 40 m out)

A.Davey (small pressuring forward) - Neagle (talent talent talent, best kick at goal aswell Lloyd revistied early in his career) - L.Jetta (small pressuring forward who can push into middle like Davey)

Hille - Stanton (hopeful of a brownlow for him) - Prismall/A.Thomson/ or a good mid with our 2nd pick in 08 draft (Swift, Blease, Banner, Robinson, Zaharkis, deboer)

Warnock/Laycock (talented 2nd rucks can go forward aswell), Daniher (versatile player eg: like Hunter but on our bench, Lonergan, Mcphee)

What a side and they all have good careers left. possibly all these players have 8 years at least. Premiership success 2011/2012
