Myers, white, tivers & Hyde

Can all consider themselves extremely lucky to have survived on the primary list although I suspect one maybe two could be cut for the PSD....Coming from a bottom placed finish I would be supporting more draft selections than whats been flagged so far:eek:

White the least. Only had 2 years on the list and showed promise in quite a few.

Danny has shown far less in 3 years.

Tivendale, as much as people hate it and its sad for the club, was one our better performers through-out the year. That's embarrassing really.

And finally Hyde. Cant wait 'til he leaves, sure he can evade players but apart from that . . . sweet FA.

SOME people never learn.

Yeah right, Tivendale is lucky not to have been delisted.

For the second straight year finished top 10 in our best and fairest and had a pretty decent year.

That's 30 plus blokes he had a better year than.

Granted he is not everybody's favourite, but cut the guy some slack.

Tivendale gets a game week in, week out because:

1. He earns one.

2. There is no one better.

Plenty of guys ata the club, including the other three you have mentioned, had the opportunity to claim his spot...none of them (and the others) grasped it!

Normally I'd agree that finshing last should mean lots of guys cut.

But this year is a bit different. We finished last largely because we had stocked up on kids.

If we keep cutting guys from the 22 and replacing them with 18 years olds who play at Coburg we will keep finishing last.

I'd say that Meyer and Howat are still in trouble. There are two more delistment deadlines and Howat at this moment is in limbo.

Schulz, Moore and Hughes are saved by the lack of tall options. JON, Casserley and White are contracted. Hyde is a good soldier who had a bad year, but he has fight in him and is a very very good chance to bounce back. You need a bit of character in your squad and he is a leader. Petterson and Collins are contracted and we haven't been able to have a good look at them yet.

At the moment we have added Morton and McMahon. Plus we have 3 draft picks and 4 rookie picks. So that will be 9 new faces at least.

If we had 5 picks and 4 rookie vacancies most would be happy. All we have done is take our PSD pick early (McMahon) and take a pick 19 calibre midfielder (Morton) before draft day.

These days (as Howat, King and Graham showed) the rookie list is basically just extra rounds of the draft. If we delist someone else we get pick 67 ... which is not much different from the rookie draft anyway.

I totally agree with this...I've never been a fan of Tivendale's and have wanted to see him cut a long time ago. However, the situation as it stands now is that he has a bigger body than most of these kids, his tackling has improved in the last year and the plain and simple fact is that theres no one better....(Which shows the condition we're in)

Like him or hate him but White, Myer, Hyde, Moore, Howat haven't done enough to be kept on the list before Tivendale.

Yeah, I'm in this boat too. And although I don't think he'll ever make up a position in a grand final side, we gave Matty Rogers close to 200 games. Tivva has him covered (I do realise I haven't set a high benchmark).

The thing that kills Tivendale's performances is his kicking. He tries to drill low 30-40 metre passes at waist height and he stuffs them most of the time. His kicking for goal on the run this year, particularly in the Port game this season (at AAMI), was nothing short of abominable. Continually ran up the flank to the 50 and tried to nail it and missed them all. If he can get his disposal right he'd be a much better player because he does have skill.

I actually think that Hyde still has something to offer, but really needs to lift his work rate. Trouble is, with our current set-up, where do you play him most effectively?

We need to delist dead weight and replace with KKP depth in the draft, We need about 3 More KKP and two more ruckman. Rookie list is a option for rucks but not KKP forwards.

We need to find a few gems from the late part of the draft. After richo our spine is quite average atm.

This draft we need more KKP then small mids.

Just because we need KPP doesnt mean we should go out and draft them for the sake of it.

Forcing the draft has cost us in the past. If there is a talented player like Rockliff at pick 51 compared to a substandard KPP then we should take the small.

You have a good point. But we all know KKP take longer then smalls and to base our future on Sargeant Lazy and Soft as Butter Steamer we are in trouble. I may be overstating the problem but there is a problem.

We have plenty of talent coming through the ranks with eg. connors, edwards, polo, Deledio, tambling and jackson. Meyer is replaced by Morton, white is a good kid but dim a dozen.

Tiv on the other hand is a required player due to his age and mature body. Love him or hate him he is a better choice then white or meyer.

No doubt there is a problem. But we have been guilty in the past of forcing choices. Fiora over pavlich being the main one.

We may get a KPP defender and a speculative ruck in this draft but that will be it and because we are taking them so late we are almost better off looking to the rookie list them to give them time to develop.

Rookie list is great for Rucks and smalls that don't get picked up in the november draft. Forwards and Defenders are a rare find as rookies. Thurty was a great find.

not necessarily because with pick 51 in a weak draft you really have nothing to lose in taking a bigger bodied player compared to a smaller one. Who would have about the same skill level

yes we are young but not THAT young

look at the hawks and blues if you want young lists and they still got rid of their senior deadwood where as we are still hoping tivendale can improve his disposal and hyde can get more consistent

what a flipping joke

Agreed.
He's been good value and well worth his spot - and not deserving of all the criticism he gets from some people.

At the same time it would be nice to think that in a year or so he was no longer good enough to get a game - and perhaps spends a final year or so playing off the bench. But that should be because some of the younger brigade have overtaken him.

Meanwhile I hope he chalks up a wll deserved 200th.
