That isn't a NAB cup squad, that is the reserves in 2008! (Give or take a few players - Sherman, Clark, Leuenberger in particular IMO) The NAB cup does gives us a shot at seeing quite a few young kids play, but best 22 players such as Merrett, Stiller, Black, Power, Drummond, Charman, etc will all most likely get a run, injury permitting.

That team will get absolutely pumped.

You can't throw all 30 players into the deep end without some senior support. Fair enough rest Brown, Black, Power, Notting, and Lappin for half the games, but i'm sure Lethal will play Johnstone to see what his role will be, and Roe, Patfull, and Brennan would love an opportunity to secure a spot.

Also, the more game time Rischitelli, Stiller, and Drummond get in the pre-season the better IMO.

B- Kiel Merrett Begley
HB- Collier Patfull Tyler
C- Stiller Adock Johnstone
HF- Hooper Clark Dzufer
F- Brennan Drummond Proud
Fol- Leuenberger Black Sheldon

Int- Polkinghorne Copeland Henderson Mills Hawksley Schmidt

  • Tyler on a back flank for a good test, showcase his rebounding skills, athleticism and see if he is a good defender.
  • No Brown, Notting, Power, Lappin, Charman, Rischitelli, Roe, Selwood and Sherman because it will be a necessity that those (to name a few) have solid pre-seasons to be fit for the 22.
  • Copeland, Henderson, Mills on the bench to shifted around the field (defence, midfield, forward) to see how the go in certain possies.
  • Proud up forward, but like Hooper, licence to go where he likes.
  • Drummond, Dzufer up forward for trial (Drummo makes a reasonable forward).
  • Sheldon roving, interchanging with Kiel, Hooper and (maybe) Polkinghorne.
  • Johnstone in the side to get a feel what is like to be a Lion.
  • Collier given the Drummond role.

You have a Schmidt the Lion?

We have a Schmidt the Swan :D

OMG!!!

We have Brennan the Lion, and you have Brennan the Swan. What the?

Wait, there's more.

We also have a Selwood the Lion. But wait, there's also Selwood the Eagle (now two of them) and Selwood the Cat.

:p

Weevil - am I funny or what?

Why is everyone in the opinion that Proud will play forward, he is a crash and bash midfielder with excellent skill.....he should be played as rover in 15 minute bursts until he gets his fitness up ;)

Sherman would be the first player I would pick in my pre-season team.

He needs to get his confidence back. What better way than in a trial match?

And Roe hasn't secured a spot yet - he would be keen to play as much as he can.

Like all young players, he shouldn't be thrown to the wolves. Proud got owned playing up the field in his second match (1 touch) and had 8 touches playing forward. The boy will develop into a midfielder as he matures, just like Hooper might. :)

Ill have a shot at this, but im glad im not Lethal:-

B:- Proud Merrett Drummond
HB:- Schmidt Tyler Sherman
C:- Johnstone Adcock Stiller
HF:- Hooper Henderson Rischitelli
FF:- Harding Clark Brennan
Fol:- Berger, Begely, Sheldon

Int: Mills, Hawksley, Collier, Kiel, Roe, Dzufer, McDonald, Sellwood and Patful (Way to many i know)

I tried to pick a team that would be reliant on the next generation of lions players (plus Johnstone). I think that this is a good blend of relatively expericened players and rookies.

I have Tyler getting the first shot at CHB but there are plenty of options both in the starting lineup and the supersized bench.

When will Bradshaw be able to play again coz i thought if he's fit enough they'd want to get some game time into him at the earliest opportunity.
Check out Roster Watch but I think he won't be available for the first few weeks of the season.
