Anglesea: Nice colour scheme, although this is a very light and loud design, particularly the back. Experiment with shades of blue 'til you find a sweet spot. Background is no good, needs lightening.

Bruns-a-wick: Don kay, you are far too good for this league.

Gold Coast: pretty meh. Nothing grabs my attention. I hope your season kits are a bit more innovative. Also consider dropping a some colours from your pallet. Four colours gets very busy when your design isn't very interesting.

Gambier: I can see you've tried to be innovative, not really feeling it though. The magma remind me of Stormy's shitposty/infamous hoog christmas kit last season. Also not particularly keen on the colour set. Light blue and red are difficult to get to work together, even with another color in between.

Storm: Grey to cyan gradient is no good. Needs a shitload of refining and finishing.

Alice Springs: Apart from obvious jpeg compression, design is alright. Try replacing the skull with the 'AS' motif from its headband.

Ryan Griffens: Peril design is normally a winner. Try tweaking the wings to make it a bit more 'yours'. The griffen head is nice. Number font, logo choice, colouring and placement are all poor, though. Pick sponsors that suit the design and try a taller number font.

Gippsland: Refinement; your strokes are all different weights. Green and gold are good colours to work with, so you have lots of scope to come up with interesting designs. Also, your background image is too prominent. Dull it down, a lot.

Swans: Very nice. Oxford and Cambridge is always a winner. Monogram is well made, although if you wanted, you could drop it below the yoke and colour it light blue. Would like to see the football in the league logo in dark blue to match the design.

Anyone using paint that has the time to change it up, I can't recommend this template enough!

I actually cannot stand that template. Very annoying to use.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm going to go a little more conservative with the colours for the season proper, but I might have to bring this colour scheme back for a clash I think.

Reviews (returning players have been critiqued more severely than first years):

Anglesea: Unique design, good colours. Background for me works with this design, but can see it being an issue with other designs, so probably should be toned down. Front logos could be reduced in size. Looking forward to seeing the regular season kits.

Brunswick: I like the design, though the gradient is probably the weak point. Colours work well. Solid monogram. Background works.

Gold Coast: I like the design, but I feel it is a bit safe. Strong colours. Need to be careful with logos as the HP logo has the light blue within the P which should be white. Socks need to have design on them as plain block colours don't really work. Logo could be worked on as it doesn't work with the colours the way they are.

Mt Gambier: Fair design, but it just doesn't work for me. Colours look alright but could certainly be utilised in a far better way.

Northern Storm: I like the colours, but the gradient and prominent logo just does not work. When using such contrasting colours it is usually best to use them in blocks rather than gradients. Though I commend you for designing your own logo, I would relegate it to being just that. The use of it on a design will likely hurt the design more than actually working for it.

Alice Springs: Strong design, colours work well, but I would not use the full skull on the design, the monogram would be better. Actually swap the monogram and logo (logo above the number, monogram on the front in white). Background needs work.

Canberra: I am a little disappointed. Apart from a great griffin logo the rest of the design just feels lazy. White logo on yellow does not work. And the front logos need to be realigned so that they sit even on the design. Really hope the final designs are far more thought out.

Gippsland: Colours = good, though gold star feels a little out of place (probably should have been yellow), rest feels like Canberra, a bit lazy. The design is a bit too simple and just doesn't really scream "vote for me". Either the competition logo or the Holden logo need to lowered or raised as they feel off (sponsor logo should sit at the mid point of the competition logo). Background needs work as it is too strong. Hoping for better in the actual competition.

South Perth: Beautiful colours, Monogram does not work on this design, would be better if it was smaller, recoloured light blue and placed on the dark blue. Socks could have done with the addition of light blue and white. Dark blue shoulders on the front should have been dropped and replaced with the light blue. Having the dark blue there makes having the light blue on the upper back seem strange. Back sponsor could be raised a little.

Thanks for the feedback, I think that this colour scheme will be coming back now for sure in some capacity. So would you be making the background darker? I was playing around with making it slightly lighter which I think works better for both my light and dark designs.

Thanks. Blue is a supplementary colour that I specifically had in mind for the blue lake and the pre-season jumper only, so it won't appear on the other Volcanoes jumpers. I went for something distinctive to contrast with those other jumpers. I had to look up hoog - I might retrospectively claim that's what I was aiming for;)

Thanks... working on a more catchy design to hopefully win me some votes. Will also fix the logos. I might scrap the background.

Definitely lighter. You want a background that does not distract from the design itself, so a background image can be there but it needs to be barely visible so that the design is the focal point and the background is the accent.

Thanks for the critique all, glad everyone prefers the monogram as it is scheduled to appear in a one off round kit that is similar to the one I have designed here.

sjohnson absolute belter, I can only recommend that in the future, with kits like that with a yoke at the back and front that the shoulders match up to be the same colour. Other than that, simple, clean, and done well, looking forward to the real thing.

I thought sjohnson was a first year. Who was his team last year?
I am a first year
