How many times do you need to see the writing on the wall before you accept reality. The guys body simply isn't up to the rigors of AFL. Genetic lottery. It sucks for the club but another lesson for our recruiters who go hunting for injury prone kids with 'potential'

I very much doubt that our recruiters stipulate 'injury prone' as being a prerequisite for selecting kids.

Players often carry an injury of some sort, it's just part of the game. How 'prone' a kid is to injury won't really be known until they are exposed to the rigours of the game at its highest standard.

Unfortunately he's an injury prone and things won't change.
We've telegraphed that to every club so l don't think we'll get a thing for him by seasons end just a delist.
It's just unfortunately tough luck.

Im less bullish than most on Cockatoo. He has shown some promise granted but i don't necessarily think hes done enough to be considered automatic best 22 at this point.

IMO I think he is best 22 when fit. Hasn't accumulated games to be the best he can be yet (if he ever will mind you). Right now though, the physicality and aggression he brings to the team is great (something sorely lacking in the team besides Selwood) and he also has periodic great plays.

I think he's judged on what he 'could' be as a player, that is an elite player. An unrealistic high bar considering most players in the team are not elite...

Let's hope he can just be on the park for awhile, string a bunch of games together and give him every opportunity to show his potential.

Don't need to telegraph anything as anyone can see the times he's been out of the game.....

Do you think if it was Parsons being injured nobody would have noticed and he'd have trade currency?

You can't hide an AFL listed player.

The longer he's on the list the less likely interested parties if he doesn't turn it around. That's a given.
As l said a couple of months ago when the first injury was reported, by seasons end he won't be tradable.
Unfortunately he's injured again.

You are either trolling or have absolutely no idea about football if you think that. How can you telegraph if someone is injury prone or not. What should we have done just had him out there hobbling so it looks like he can play more games in a year and is more durable. Furthermore if you honestly think that clubs would not take a risk on a highly talented but injury prone 23 year old you have no idea. Harley Bennell anyone!!

So what would your plan be. Just trade someone before you have given them a chance to prove themselves for you, just in case they get injured again, because they will have more trade currency then. Are you a stockbroker and just love trading. That is absolute madness. So you draft someone and spend millions of dollars on their development only to trade them before you know if they can make it just to get something better back. And before you say that you knew or the club should have known he would get injured again let me remind you of a couple of facts.

1. The doctors at the club have more knowledge and are far better informed of his personal circumstances. Hence in an infinitely better position to make a call on his future than you or any armchair expert.

2. Secondly other clubs will do their medical due diligence before signing any player so trying to pull the wool over their eyes is laugable.

Dear cynics

If I can suggest something for the both of you it would be to set some positive daily goals. If you have kids take them for a nice walk along the beach and let them dip their feet in the water and splash around for a while. After they're done put your hand in your pocket and shout them an ice-cream from the nearest ice-cream van. If that doesn't put a smile on your face then nothing will.

If you don't have kids then do something small each day that gives yourselves a sense of achievement. Even If it's mowing the lawns or cleaning the clutter out of the garage, you'll gain a sense of accomplishment and take some positive energy away from the exercise.

It sure beats living your life miserable and pessimistic.

Kind regards,

Cockarfitt

HAHAHAHA great post and I only read the first sentence to know I would love it!

Some are mature enough to be objective while some like yourself can't handle any discussion.
I'll let it ride.

Ummm I love that I wrote a complete critique of your stance and you chose to respond to my joke and talk about objectivity and maturity. Perhaps stand your counter position to the points I made and you will have more credibility talking about objectivity

I'm only trying to help a brother out.

There's a group of posters on here that come across as being miserable, cynical and pessimistic when it comes to the Geelong Football Club and post nothing other than negative thoughts. They actually believe the sky is falling and still have a copy of the animated disney film Chicken Little.

Then there are those who are just trolls and post to get a reaction.

I think you're a part of the first category and see light at the end of the tunnel. Just think of a rainbow, they introduce us to reflections of different beautiful possibilities so we never forget that pain and grief are not the final options in life.

I've just been for a dip in the pool with the kids. Now I'm going to do some banking and investing and hit the water again (with a stubby)
