I bagged the shit outta Bock this week, but he played the kind of game we need him to play up forward - the kind of game that we haven't seen from him since about Round 2. Absolutely dominated in the first quarter and finished with 4 goals for the game. Good effort Bock - keep up the good work!
It was great to see our forward line funtioning for once. Welsh, McGregor, Bock and Porplyzia all looked dangerous and worked well as a unit. Hopefully they can replicate tonights performance in a fortnight against everybody's favourite, West Coast.

Some disposal to advantage goes a long way, all the forwards need do for my vote is get some tackles he had 3 right away.
The marks were about finding space the goals keeping his feet and he never put a foot wrong.

Interesting to note that when the ball is put in to the forward line quickly all our forwards can actually play. People have been bagging Welshy and Bocky hear for a few weeks but with the 5 minutes to get into the forward 50 and the shitty passes what would you expect. If you get the ball in quickly you always give the forwards half a chance!

He looked far less inhibited tonight. The last few weeks he hasn't been able to run.

Whether thats got to do with the increased space... I don't know.

By the same token, he's been the one holding it up on serveral occassions in recent weeks - would take far too long deciding where to kick it, leaving the opposition plenty of time to flood.
Also, I don't think you can put it completely down to better delivery into the forward 50, as I think Bocks skills were actually a heck of a lot better this week than they have been over the last couple of months. Marks were not bouncing off his chest, as we were seeing all too often, and his kicking was straight. He slotted 4 goals straight, which was very very good considering he'd been kicking more points than goals since round 2.

Aggree with you completely.

But my reasoning is that forwards will always look and play better the more the ball gets into the forward line and the quicker the ball gets there. Our bigger forwards Welsh, Bock, Mgregor were able to get their hands on it because the Roos didn't have time to get numbers back in defence to clog up their area. This makes a key forwards job so much easier.

Agreed :thumbsu: Good team effort.

Was made easier tonight cause the leads where honoured with good kicks. Not all the time but more often than the last couple of weeks. Players didnt have to break stride.

There was also some great contested marks. So both areas really picked up!

Bock showed what he can do tonight. Needs to find some consistancy and I really think he can be that tall marking forward we lack. No need to look at trades etc he is the guy just needs to consistantly do what he did tonight.

Overall though I think skills where up much higher and delivery was sensational which led to our win.

Really played a fantastic roll up forward tonight negeated his defender well and managed to play in front most of the time.

When you have three forwards like Bock, Welsh and McGregor whom you know can out bustle their opponent in a one on one you need to give them the best opportunity to lead to the ball and thought our delivery from the midfeild was pretty good tonight and played an important role in to productivity of our key forwards.

Bingo. I said as much to my friend while watching. Yet the reason he went off late was he looked stiff again... so maybe it was the space

Looked good tonight be he needs to have that sort of impact on a regular basis. He is just hot and cold and this year he has been more cold. However, tonight he was excellent. Mind you big Kenny G is doing wonders for Bocky as well because their styles complement each other.

Some of the contests and marks Kenny took tonight were sensational. Kenny G makes a lot of difference to our forward line IMHO.

Spot on :thumbsu:

How potent did that forward line look when Ken doll, Bocky, Griff and Welshy were all up there and we kicked it in long to them.

Gregor was definitely taking some good grabs hands out first grab on the lead.
Just one poor kick from him to nothing otherwise did well even chasing.
